The Senior Technical Designer is responsible for ensuring that all organizational design operations align with the company’s procedures and policies. This role requires a proactive individual with the ability to analyze, oversee, and deliver high-quality design projects on time and within budget. The position involves leading design processes, managing documentation, collaborating with clients and consultants, and ensuring design integrity throughout all project phases.
Key Responsibilities:
Design Management:
- Analyze and review all design documents and specifications with minimal supervision, ensuring timely delivery, adherence to budget, and alignment with the highest standards.
- Oversee all project phases, including programming, consulting, strategy, conceptual design, presentations, schematic design, design development, construction documentation, and the tendering process.
- Enhance designs as required to meet project objectives and ensure innovation and practicality in outcomes.
- Lead the design process and liaise with clients, consultants, and architects, ensuring timely receipt and release of design information while adhering to the project timeline.
Documentation & Coordination:
- Develop and manage detailed shop drawing schedules, Requests for Information (RFI) schedules, material submittal schedules, and other documentation related to design.
- Address RFIs within prescribed timeframes to prevent delays in project progress.
- Review and comment on working/shop drawings across relevant trades, ensuring compliance with all designs, disciplines, and installation details.
- Coordinate submittals with related activities, such as fabrication, purchasing, testing, and delivery, to ensure seamless project execution.
Quality Assurance & Site Supervision:
- Conduct project site inspections throughout all construction phases, verifying design implementation and compliance with contract documents and specifications.
- Adhere to quality control standards, ensuring that all deliverables meet the required benchmarks and company guidelines.
- Implement necessary design changes and corrections during project execution to maintain alignment with objectives.
Team Leadership & Collaboration:
- Oversee and mentor the design team, providing guidance and ensuring consistent performance and professional growth.
- Maintain strong relationships with vendors, manufacturers, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project delivery.
- Perform administrative duties as needed to support project and team efficiency.
Required Skills & Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in architecture, Interior Design, or a related field.
- Minimum of 8+ years of professional experience, with a strong focus on technical design and project leadership.
- Proficiency in design and drafting tools such as AutoCAD, BIM (Revit), SketchUp, Enscape, 3Ds Max , Vray, Lumion, and Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, Illustrator).
- Experience with large-scale, high-profile projects in a fast-paced environment.
- Strong communication and presentation skills, with a proven ability to liaise with clients, consultants, and multidisciplinary teams
- Experience in managing RFIs, shop drawings, and material submittals.
