Senior Technical Architect UAE

The UAE office is looking for a Senior Architect with a background in the design of large scale complex projects, educational projects, light industrial projects, and construction documentation.

Job Summary:

The Senior Technical Architect will be responsible for leading the technical design of mid to large scale technically complex projects, working closely with clients, project managers, and other design professionals to ensure successful project delivery. The Senior Technical Architect will oversee the development of Schematic Design, Detailed design documents, Tender Authorities, IFC drawings, specifications, and other project documentation, ensuring compliance with relevant codes, regulations, and standards.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Lead the technical design of complex construction projects including commercial, educational, and industrial facilities.
  • Collaborate with clients, project managers, and other design professionals to understand project requirements and develop technical design solutions that meet project goals and exceed client expectations.
  • Prepare and develop drawings, models, specifications, reports, and other documents relating to the design. Meet with clients to discuss design requirements for new constructions, alterations, or repairs.
  • Lead the design coordination with all disciplines, subconsultants, and any other stakeholders involved in the project.
  • Proactively check and coordinate project documents (including but not limited to multidisciplinary drawings, design reports, technical specifications, etc.) and ensure they meet client requirements and industry standards.
  • Take ownership for preparation of discipline drawings for submission to the Statutory Authorities. Develop knowledge of local & international codes, regulations, and submission requirements. Ensure compliance with all relevant codes, regulations, and standards for construction projects.
  • Set the overall strategy for producing the documents and identify the sheets planned for each stage of the work. This includes defining how data will be organized into files and which elements will be incorporated in a Building Information Model (BIM).
  • Implement SID (Safety in Design) principles throughout the design process and ensure ISO 9001 Quality Assurance Structure throughout projects.
  • Mentor less experienced staff, participate in professional development reviews, and Lessons Learned sessions.
  • Manage project schedules and budgets, ensuring projects are completed on time and within budget.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to project teams and other stakeholders.
  • Keep up to date with the latest construction technologies and techniques and evaluate their potential use in construction projects.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor's qualification in Architecture.
  • Proven experience, of which 10 years must be working on Medium to Large Scale Projects.
  • RIBA/AIA Licensed Architect preferred.
  • Extensive experience from concept through to construction across a range of project types including residential, commercial, hospitality, medical, leisure, education, and high-rise developments. Previous site experience would be beneficial.
  • Strong leadership abilities and the ability to lead teams and projects. Strong organizational skills.
  • Proficiency in Revit and 3D rendering software utilizing Revit or Sketchup is a requirement.
  • Middle East experience and working knowledge of design and construction practices specific to this region.
  • Strong knowledge of building codes, regulations, and submissions requirements.
  • Excellent project management skills with the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • Experience in fast track and design to budget projects.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to work collaboratively with clients, team members, and other stakeholders.
  • Strong technical design skills with a focus on practical, functional, and efficient design solutions.
