Job Purpose
Manage the implementation of the company’s Sustainability strategy aligned with corporate objectives and global standards. Provide dedicated sustainability, ESG, energy and emissions expertise to strengthen, consolidate and formalize the company’s sustainability management approach. Job Responsibilities
- Accountable for the design, execution, and continuous refinement of the company-wide ESG and Sustainability Strategy, aligned with company’s strategic vision and international standards.
- Working with the businesses and operations to develop a programme of sustainability initiatives consistent with the approved strategy. Ensure rigorous environmental impact assessments, GHG (Greenhouse gas) accounting, carbon reduction plans, green building strategies, clean energy initiatives, and social responsibility programs.
- Evaluate the effectiveness of company’s sustainability initiatives using qualitative and quantitative tools; communicate outcomes to internal stakeholders.
- Benchmark company’s ESG performance against local, regional, and international standards; identify gaps and develop action plans to improve sustainability maturity.
- Design and develop company sustainability policy, strategy, manuals, guidelines and codes of practice in line with relevant sustainability standards and framework.
- Establish and implement systems in company to identify sustainability KPIs, collect, validate and report sustainability data and KPIs.
- Conduct sustainability compliance and integrated management system audits to minimize risks to the business.
- Review, comment and endorse all sustainability related scopes of work and consultants/third parties which are engaged by the company and used for projects to ensure that they are in line with corporate policies/standards/guidelines and approved codes of practice in addition to the local rules and regulations.
- Identify and train sustainability champions across the company to report all the elements required to produce the sustainability report
- Develop a process to consolidate and manage sustainability-related data across departments; ensure accessibility and traceability for reporting and decision-making.
- Prepare ESG and sustainability reports ensuring accuracy, material relevance, and alignment with GRI (Global Reporting Initiative) & relevant disclosure standards.
- Develop ESG performance metrics and dashboards to track year-on-year progress against key sustainability indicators.
- Perform environmental and sustainability forecasting and cost-benefit analysis to support informed decision-making across the business.
- Perform regular assessment and ranking of sustainability opportunities through cost/benefit analysis.
- Develop criteria for evaluating the company on sustainability performance.
- Review and endorse environmental, energy and resource conservation, CSR campaigns and any other campaigns related to sustainability elements to promote and enhance an environmentally friendly culture in the organization.
- Benchmark the company’s sustainability performance measured by sustainability KPIs against best practices (local, regional and international), identify gaps in performance and develop action plans to improve the sustainability performance of the company.
- Maintain awareness of technological, legal, and professional issues and changes associated with sustainability issues and legal requirements, to achieve best practice and identify new projects and areas for improvement related to sustainability in alignment with local and international standards.
Education
Bachelor’s Degree in Environmental Science, Engineering, Sustainability, or related field.
Certificate: ISO 14001/50001 Lead Auditor, GRI Certification, or equivalent ESG qualification.
Job Requirement
- Minimum 10 years post qualification experience including 5 years minimum of energy and environment in Oil & Gas (upstream) industry.
- Some delegation of responsibility, some independence of routine matters. Incumbents exercise some control over both the technical and administrative aspects of work. Objectives may be set for the position, but the incumbent often works independently but peer reviewed by the team
- Duties and tasks are varied and complex. Work is analytic, non-standardized, requiring independent judgment to identify, select and apply the most appropriate course of action among available options.
- Experience in ESG, GHG accounting, carbon credits, energy and environmental management, corporate social responsibility (CSR), sustainability reporting and carbon reduction strategies.
- Analytical and research skills, including data analysis and investigative analytical skills and ability to research and present key information in a clear and concise way.
- Good understanding of local and international laws and regulations concerning ESG; including international treaties and protocols.
- Strong communication and report writing skills in line with GRI standard reporting, and management presentations.
