Job Title: Supervisor - Construction (Lifting)
Key Responsibilities:
- Review lift plans for Non-Routine (Complex and Critical Categories), weighing procedures, and loadout manuals with Construction Support Operations (CSO) at the home office, ensuring compliance with Petrofac and project HSSE policies and guidelines.
- Work closely with construction leads and team leads to develop lift and haul schedules on site, optimizing the use of lifting resources according to site priorities.
- Assess lifting/hauling operations to plan, select appropriate cranes, lifting gear, and equipment, provide instructions, and ensure safety precautions are in place.
- Support the development of lift studies, heavy haul plans, weighing and loadout plans, method statements, and JSAs.
- Conduct daily site audits to ensure HSE and lifting/hauling inspections and procedures are followed.
- Monitor project lifting and rigging operations to ensure adherence to approved plans and procedures.
- Serve as a qualified person for all load-out, load-in, and erection activities involving lifting equipment.
- Ensure all lifting and hauling equipment are properly maintained, inspected, and certified by approved third parties, meeting regulatory standards.
- Ensure personnel involved in lifting and hauling operations are trained, competent, and certified.
- Review and approve routine lift plans, rigging and lifting procedures, and lift studies, including subcontractor plans.
- Implement procedures for reporting defects and incidents, and take corrective actions as needed.
- Ensure Petrofac procedures are followed and that subcontractors adhere to them.
- Support competency assessments on site.
- Provide construction feedback through the Construction Observation Form.

Skills & Competencies:
- Good communication skills
- Knowledge of international lifting and rigging standards such as ASME and OSHA
- Trained and competent according to local legal requirements (e.g., Abu Dhabi EHSMS – EHS Code of Practice 34.0)
- Formal training from an approved third-party institute (e.g., NPORS BV or equivalent), approved and accredited by OPITO; letters from crane suppliers are not accepted
- Authorization in writing from the employing company and Petrofac
- Ability to produce work reports
- Familiarity with the Permit to Work (PTW) system
- Ability to coordinate simultaneous operations (SIMOPS)
- Capability to train and qualify riggers, rigging supervisors, and crane operators
- Understanding of lifting drawings and calculations; ability to review and approve lift plans/studies and procedures
- Ability to generate project-specific lifting and rigging procedures when necessary
- Knowledge of stationary lifting equipment inspection (overhead cranes, gantry cranes, davit arms, winches, etc.)
