Job Title: Senior Structural Health Monitoring Specialist

Location: United Arab Emirates (Remote)

Employment Type: Full-Time

Work Arrangement: 100% Remote — Work From Home

Level: Senior

About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Health Monitoring Specialist to support the assessment, monitoring, and performance evaluation of buildings, bridges, infrastructure assets, and other structural systems. The successful candidate will analyze structural monitoring data, interpret sensor measurements, identify potential deterioration or abnormal behavior, and provide technical recommendations to support asset safety, reliability, and long-term maintenance. This is a fully remote position focused on data analysis, engineering assessment, technical reporting, and virtual coordination with field-based teams.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and oversee structural health monitoring strategies for buildings, bridges, industrial facilities, and civil infrastructure.
  • Analyze data collected from structural sensors, including strain gauges, accelerometers, displacement transducers, inclinometers, load cells, and vibration monitoring systems.
  • Evaluate structural behavior under static and dynamic loading conditions.
  • Interpret monitoring trends to identify unusual movement, deformation, vibration, stress variations, and potential structural deterioration.
  • Establish monitoring thresholds, performance indicators, and alert criteria in accordance with applicable engineering standards.
  • Review structural monitoring plans, sensor layouts, instrumentation specifications, and data acquisition procedures.
  • Conduct remote assessments of structural performance using monitoring dashboards, engineering software, and historical datasets.
  • Identify anomalies, assess potential risks, and recommend further investigation or corrective action.
  • Prepare technical reports, condition assessments, monitoring summaries, and engineering recommendations.
  • Coordinate remotely with structural engineers, surveyors, instrumentation specialists, maintenance teams, and project stakeholders.
  • Support the development of predictive maintenance strategies based on monitoring trends and structural performance data.
  • Review finite element analysis results and compare predicted structural responses with measured monitoring data.
  • Assess vibration characteristics, modal behavior, fatigue indicators, and structural response where relevant.
  • Verify the quality, completeness, and reliability of monitoring data and recommend improvements to instrumentation or data collection processes.
  • Maintain monitoring databases, technical documentation, calibration records, and audit-ready reporting.
  • Provide technical guidance to junior engineers and monitoring analysts.
  • Contribute to continuous improvement of structural monitoring methodologies, analytical tools, and reporting standards.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, or a closely related discipline; a master's degree is an advantage.
  • Extensive experience in structural health monitoring, structural engineering, infrastructure assessment, or structural performance analysis.
  • Strong understanding of structural mechanics, material behavior, load distribution, and structural dynamics.
  • Practical knowledge of structural monitoring technologies, instrumentation, and sensor data acquisition systems.
  • Experience analyzing strain, displacement, acceleration, vibration, temperature, and other structural monitoring measurements.
  • Familiarity with structural analysis and modeling software such as SAP2000, ETABS, ANSYS, or equivalent tools.
  • Knowledge of data analysis and visualization tools, including MATLAB, Python, Excel, or specialist monitoring platforms.
  • Understanding of relevant structural design, assessment, and monitoring standards and engineering guidelines.
  • Ability to identify data anomalies, evaluate structural trends, and communicate engineering risks clearly.
  • Experience preparing technical assessments, engineering reports, and monitoring recommendations.
  • Strong analytical, problem-solving, and technical documentation skills.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination abilities.
  • Ability to manage multiple monitoring projects and deliverables in a fully remote environment.
  • Professional engineering registration or relevant industry certification is an advantage, where applicable.
What We Offer
  • A fully remote, work-from-home position within the UAE employment context.
  • Competitive compensation based on qualifications and professional experience.
  • Opportunities to contribute to major infrastructure and structural monitoring initiatives.
  • Exposure to advanced sensing technologies, engineering analytics, and predictive maintenance practices.
  • A collaborative technical environment focused on structural safety, innovation, and professional development.
  • Important: This role is designed for remote technical analysis, monitoring-data interpretation, reporting, and engineering coordination.
