About the Role

We are seeking an experienced Senior Structural Health Monitoring Specialist to support the assessment, monitoring, and performance evaluation of infrastructure and structural assets, including bridges, buildings, industrial facilities, transport structures, and other critical engineering systems. The successful candidate will analyze structural monitoring data, evaluate asset condition, identify potential deterioration patterns, and develop recommendations to support structural integrity, operational reliability, and preventive maintenance.

This fully remote position focuses on monitoring system design reviews, sensor data analysis, structural performance assessment, technical reporting, and engineering consultation. The specialist will collaborate with structural engineers, asset managers, inspection teams, instrumentation providers, and maintenance professionals to support informed, data-driven decisions.

Key Responsibilities
  • Develop and review structural health monitoring strategies for buildings, bridges, industrial structures, and other infrastructure assets.
  • Analyze monitoring data from strain gauges, accelerometers, displacement sensors, inclinometers, temperature sensors, and other structural instrumentation.
  • Evaluate structural response under static and dynamic loading conditions.
  • Review vibration measurements, modal parameters, displacement trends, strain responses, and other indicators of structural performance.
  • Establish and assess monitoring thresholds, alert criteria, and performance indicators in accordance with approved engineering requirements.
  • Identify abnormal structural behavior, emerging deterioration patterns, and potential changes in asset performance.
  • Support the interpretation of sensor data to distinguish structural changes from environmental effects, operational loads, and measurement anomalies.
  • Review instrumentation layouts, sensor specifications, monitoring plans, and data acquisition system configurations.
  • Assess data quality, sensor reliability, calibration records, and monitoring system performance.
  • Develop analytical methods and automated workflows for processing, visualizing, and interpreting structural monitoring data.
  • Apply statistical analysis, signal processing, trend analysis, and relevant structural modeling techniques to support condition assessment.
  • Integrate monitoring data with inspection findings, maintenance records, environmental information, and engineering assessments.
  • Prepare technical reports, monitoring summaries, condition assessments, and recommendations for further investigation.
  • Collaborate with structural engineers and asset management teams to prioritize maintenance and inspection activities.
  • Support the development of predictive maintenance approaches and structural deterioration forecasting models.
  • Review monitoring system performance and recommend improvements to sensor coverage, data quality, and analytical processes.
  • Assist with the development of digital dashboards and reporting tools for infrastructure monitoring programs.
  • Maintain traceable technical records, analytical assumptions, monitoring results, and engineering recommendations.
  • Support remote technical reviews of structural inspection reports and monitoring system installation documentation.
  • Ensure monitoring activities and analytical outputs align with relevant engineering standards, project specifications, and asset management procedures.
Qualifications and Experience
  • Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering, Structural Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or a closely related discipline.
  • A master's degree or postgraduate qualification in Structural Engineering, Structural Dynamics, or Structural Health Monitoring is advantageous.
  • Significant experience in structural health monitoring, structural engineering, infrastructure condition assessment, or asset integrity management.
  • Strong understanding of structural behavior, load effects, material performance, and deterioration mechanisms.
