Functions as both an administrative and clinical resource of the clinic ensuring patient-centred care is effective and consistent with the goals, policies, procedures and established standards of practice. Supervises and coordinates personnel and nursing care, as well as the management of fiscal and other resources. Manages and coordinates various activities necessary for the maintenance of efficient patient care delivery. Demonstrates good skills in time management, crisis interventions, problem-solving, decision-making, delegation, and priority setting. Supports the vision and mission of the American Hospital Dubai.
Provides comprehensive counselling to diabetic patients and their families on managing the condition, informs them about consultation procedures, and facilitates referrals to relevant healthcare professionals within American Hospital Dubai, such as dietitians and diabetic educators, as advised by physicians. Coordinates multidisciplinary services to ensure diabetic patients receive optimal and timely care per evidence-based protocols.
Minimum Qualifications:
- Bachelor's degree in nursing (minimum of three (3) years full-time course duration) or
- Degree in Nursing (minimum two (2) years course duration) and Registration as a Registered Nurse from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia
- For UAE nationals graduates of UAE or non-UAE universities are exempted from the experience and clinical training requirements for the applied title. (UAE nationals must submit a copy of their birth certificate and the mother's family book)
- Non-UAE national graduates from UAE universities are required to complete six (6) months of clinical training post-graduation in an APS health facility (except for Registered and assistant Nurse titles)
- Must hold a valid License/Registration to practice in their home country and/or country of last employment (where applicable)
- Must hold a minimum of a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification or others according to the scope of practice
- Post Graduate Qualification in Nursing Management/Advanced Clinical Speciality preferable
Professional Experience:
- Minimum of seven (7) years of nursing experience in the Outpatient Department
- Minimum of three (3) years of Managerial Experience in the Diabetic Clinic
- Knowledge of current practices in the Outpatient Nursing Department
- Knowledge of Joint Commission International Accreditation (JCIA)
- Demonstrates incremental leadership and management experience
- Communication skills in Arabic and English are essential
- Private hospital experience preferred
General Responsibilities:
- Assists nursing staff in the development of clinical decision-making and problem-solving skills through case consultation, clinical demonstration, case review, bedside rounds, etc.
- Acts as a role model in the application of standards and philosophy of nursing practice.
- Ensures that nursing practice includes physical, psychological, social, and cultural dimensions utilizing the nursing process with consideration to the developmental and maturational needs of patients.
- Assumes responsibility for infection control, safety, and comfort of patients.
Operational Management:
- Plans, organizes, and manages daily operations of assigned units within the approved budget.
- Collaborates across disciplines to facilitate patient care and operations.
- Ensures appropriate staffing:
- Assigns staff to patients daily according to acuity level.
- Plans and updates staffing weekly according to the operational hours of the clinic.
- Ensures proper skill mix.
- Controls overtime.
- Follows up with the insurance coordinator on all approvals that are pending and ensure all patients are updated on the status.
- Communicates with Patient Business Services and Revenue Cycle Management (RCM) on operations that need further discounts.
- Ensures no walkouts take place in the clinic.
- Closes on time all safe points and ensures they are being addressed and the root cause analysis is figured out.
- Ensures all the clinical KPIs are placed monthly on the Patient Safety Data Board.
- Coordinates with the OR coordinator and the patient on operations to be scheduled as applicable. Monitors the Operating Room's queue list.
- Ensures post-operation follow-up calls to be done as per the policy.
