Responsibilities

JOB PURPOSEThe jobholder is responsible for supporting the implementation of the Sustainability Strategy and Roadmap by working with the Corporate Sustainability and other Borouge functions in the development, improvement, and implementation of sustainability (including CSR and Advocacy) at Borouge to meet industry sustainability standards in liaison and cooperation with various functions throughout the organization.
This role includes providing technical support to the organization to achieve its sustainability goals, implementation of sustainability and CSR initiatives, and ensuring the tracking, monitoring, and reporting of progress to help the Company meet its sustainability objectives, along with leading specific sustainability projects. In addition, the role should advocate the benefits of plastics internally and externally and promote a circular economy.
KEY ACCOUNTABILITIESSustainability Strategy and Reporting- Assisting in the development and implementation of a company-wide integrated Sustainability Management System (SMS) aligned with the overall sustainability framework, policy, and strategy.
- Supporting the Sustainability Manager in leading the development of a comprehensive Sustainability strategy and roadmap that contributes to the company's sustainability goals.
- Coordinate and deliver defined medium and long-term sustainability targets and KPIs, monitoring performance, identifying gaps, and establishing improvement plans and projects to achieve goals.
- Follow-up with company and functional strategies, business plans, and balanced scorecards to ensure alignment with key sustainability indicators.
- Execute benchmarking information for current Sustainability practices and policy positions against industry leaders and international standards.
Sustainability Standards and Ratings- Coordinate and deliver the development and publication of Borouge's ESG (Environmental, Social, and Governance) ratings and standards.
- Inform the organization on the advancement of international sustainability standards and ratings, and advise on the applicability of said standards and ratings to Borouge long-term strategy.
- Maintain and update sustainability policies, procedures, communications, forms, and related materials which enable communicating and adhering to the function directions.
- Contribute to developing systems, procedures, and guidelines with defined accountabilities and responsibilities.
- Assess overall company Sustainability performance according to international standards, taking a lead role in the development of suitable rectification plans that deliver effective solutions to support sustainability across the company.
Sustainability Benchmarking- Staying abreast of the latest trends and best practices in sustainability, both within the petrochemical industry and in general.
- Identifying opportunities to improve industry positioning on sustainability issues.
- Work collaboratively with relevant functions to review sustainability practices that are workable and aligned against the related standards and guidelines.
- Engage with internal and external stakeholders to drive sustainable practices including identification of stakeholders and materiality.
- Develop data records related to sustainability; i.e. environmental performance, community outreach, etc.
- Design, communicate and demonstrate sustainability analysis and levels, and calculation methodology to ensure proper understanding and tracking along the entire stakeholders.
- Participate in the design and development of web-based tools and reports to enhance the interface and reporting among the concerned team.
- Work cooperatively with ADNOC Group of Companies to ensure that company sustainability goals and objectives are effectively managed and delivered.
Sustainability Practices- Monitor the implementation of Sustainability Procedures and Practices to ensure the desired level of compliance by the related parties.
- Perform quantitative and qualitative analysis of empirical data with a particular focus on environmental data.
- Educate, train, discuss and communicate with related employees and stakeholders to ensure understanding of the company sustainability policy, framework, goals, and initiatives.
- Facilitate the identification of opportunities and initiatives to improve sustainability performance within the company and prioritize implementation strategies to achieve targets.
- Assess the functions strategies, business plans, and performance indicators in line with the sustainability indicators, framework or criteria.
- Participate and facilitate in sustainability networks, committees, and meetings, and engage in sustainability tasks and activities to support sustainability across the Company Value Chain.
CSR and Advocacy- Assisting in the development and implementation of a company-wide Advocacy Strategy & Roadmap, aligned with the circular economy and Borouge's sustainability framework.
- Maintain relationships with regulators, industry associations, and NGOs related to sustainability and plastics advocacy.
- Monitor development of potential rules and laws that could adversely affect the plastics industry and Borouge.
- Demonstrate and address the relationship between plastics and climate change, elaborating studies and others to explain the positive contribution of Borouge and its products to a net zero society.
- Identify opportunities to improve industry positioning with the public, including events, NGO partnerships, etc.
- Monitor potential threats to industry positioning.
- Develop, publish, and constantly review position papers for key advocacy topics.
- Develop communication and training programs to educate employees on sustainability best practices.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE, KNOWLEDGE & SKILLSMinimum Qualification- University degree in Environmental Sciences, Engineering, preferably Chemical Engineering.
- Fluency in English Language is a must; oral and written. Arabic Language is desired.
- Well-established computer skills; i.e. Microsoft Office.
Minimum Experience & Knowledge & Skills- Minimum 8 years' experience of total experience, preferably within Petrochemical, Oil & Gas Industry, or Refinery.
- Minimum of 3 years of experience as a Sustainability Specialist, or equivalent designations.
- Working experience in project management set-ups within matrix organizations.
- Working knowledge of international Sustainability standards, codes, and work practices and procedures.
- Understanding of sustainability strategies and management systems.

- Hands-on Sustainability Reporting, Performance Assessments, and Analysis.
- Awareness of LCA, Product Stewardship, and responsible sourcing.

Professional Certifications- Preferred to be certified in; PMP, CSR, GRI G4, IPSM, ISO, ASQ, NIOSH, OSHA.
