About the role:
AIQ is seeking a Senior Specialist - APC SME responsible for overseeing the installation and maintenance of Advanced Process Control (APC) systems, specifically AspenTech or Honeywell. The role covers all project phases to ensure timely installation, configuration, and ongoing support for operation and site engineers.
Responsibilities
- Perform onsite step testing for process and well operations.
- Apply expertise in dynamic linear models (DLM) and multivariable predictive control (MPC) to develop and implement advanced control strategies for production optimization.
- Implement MPC algorithms to optimize complex processes in real-time, considering multiple variables and constraints.
- Design, develop, test, maintain, and modify control systems related to APC.
- Monitor and inspect instrumentation and controls (I&C) installation activities, ensuring compliance with progress, standards, quality, safety, and environmental requirements.
- Review and approve site-related I&C and OPC equipment design and engineering matters.
- Coordinate with IT/OT and Digital Oil Fields teams on technical requirements and standards compliance.
- Ensure safety functions are integrated into all work aspects for personnel safety.
- Review and approve APC test procedures, witness tests, and review related reports.
- Participate in regular site coordination and progress review meetings.
- Conduct site visits and data collection activities.
- Prepare site progress reports related to I&C APC systems.
- Maintain records of variations, including evidence, from contractors or ADNOC/Client.
- Review and confirm the completeness and accuracy of installation and configuration handover packages.
- Review preliminary documentation and commissioning O&M manuals from contractors.
- Coordinate I&C equipment works with civil, mechanical, and electrical teams to avoid conflicts and delays.
- Ensure compliance with health, safety, and quality standards, especially ADNOC requirements.
- Liaise with clients, suppliers, contractors, and stakeholders.
- Understand project management constraints related to execution, cost, and schedule.
Qualifications
Minimum Experience
- At least 7 years of professional experience with APC, specifically with AspenTech and Honeywell.
- At least 5 years of extensive onsite installation, configuration, and support experience as a lead engineer.
- Mandatory knowledge of Distributed Control Systems (DCS), preferably Honeywell, Yokogawa, Schneider, Siemens, and/or ABB.
- Mandatory knowledge of network architecture (OT/IT).
- Experience with OPC servers and OSI PI historian.
- Preferred knowledge of firewall configuration.
- Experience with CICPA and Optima is advantageous.
- Knowledge of ADNOC HSE safety standards is preferred.
Minimum Educational Requirements:
- Degree in Control and Instrumentation Engineering, Process Engineering, or Electronic Engineering.
