Join a brand new team as the first engineer focused on embedding privacy-enhancing technologies into the Chainlink product stack. This role involves developing both off-chain and on-chain privacy solutions to enhance the Chainlink Runtime Environment. The mission is to introduce privacy solutions at every layer of Chainlink's operations, ensuring robust, customer-centric implementations to protect consumers and enable new use cases relying on privacy.
Our approach is practical and implementation-driven, emphasizing battle-tested protocols that meet the privacy requirements of a diverse range of customers, from native DeFi protocols to traditional financial institutions navigating blockchain adoption in regulated settings. Experience with technologies like Privacy Pools, Zero Knowledge Proofs (ZKPs), Fully Homomorphic Encryption (FHE), Trusted Execution Environments (TEEs), and Stealth Addresses will be highly advantageous.
You will work closely with our internal research team and other engineering teams to deliver reliable, scalable, and pragmatic privacy solutions that address real-world challenges.
About The Role

The goal is to embed privacy at every operational layer, ensuring secure, customer-focused implementations that safeguard consumers and support innovative use cases.
Our strategy is practical, prioritizing proven protocols that satisfy the privacy needs of various clients, including DeFi protocols and traditional financial institutions. Skills in Privacy Pools, ZKPs, FHE, TEEs, and Stealth Addresses will be beneficial.
You will collaborate with research and engineering teams to create scalable, reliable privacy solutions that meet real-world demands.
Your Impact
Lead the development of a pioneering privacy feature within the Chainlink Runtime Environment, becoming a key contributor within six months.
Shape the future of privacy at Chainlink Labs by contributing to the 12-month roadmap and designing innovative system architectures.
Drive long-term strategic planning to ensure solutions are future-proof.
Lead architectural initiatives translating privacy roadmaps into actionable, scalable, and secure systems.
Work with diverse stakeholders to seamlessly integrate privacy technologies across platforms.
Requirements
4+ years of software engineering experience
Knowledge of privacy-preserving technologies and cryptography
Experience with blockchains or distributed ledgers
Experience with large distributed systems
Experience with Trusted Execution Environments like SGX, AWS Nitro, GCP Confidential Compute
Preferred Requirements
Experience with GO, Rust, or familiarity with WASM
Product-focused engineering and customer empathy
Experience in banking or finance systems is a plus
Experience in writing production smart contracts in the EVM ecosystem is a plus
