WSP Middle East is seeking a highly skilled Senior Site Engineer - Mechanical. You will be responsible for overseeing site activities, implementation, ensuring adherence to design specifications, safety standards, and project timelines, collaborating with project managers to develop project plans and schedules, ensuring that milestones are met on time and within budget, and monitoring and reporting project progress to senior management.
Your new role, what's involved
Project Management:
- Manage and oversee mechanical activities and interfacing from inception to completion.
- Ensure compliance with contract requirements, design specifications, applicable codes, and regulatory requirements to ascertain quality and safety.
- Be well versed with the applicable codes, local regulations, and industry standards to discharge duties.
- Collaborate with project managers, site staff, engineers, and contractors to develop mechanical project plans and schedules.
- Prepare project progress reports, documentation, and as-built drawings for client review and approval.
- Ensure the timely completion of mechanical project milestones within the allocated budget.
- Regularly report on project progress to senior management.
Mechanical System Design:
- Review site-related documentation like method statements, installation drawings, and site testing procedures.
- Review decommissioning studies, feasibility studies, and associated risk assessments.
- Review and interpret mechanical engineering drawings and specifications.
- Provide technical support during construction activities and resolve any issues or discrepancies that may arise.
- Collaborate with design teams to review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Address technical queries and provide solutions to any challenges encountered during implementation.
- Provide valuable input into the design phase to optimize mechanical systems.
- Ensure strict compliance with local mechanical codes and regulations.
Installation and Maintenance:
- Raise NCR (Non-Compliance Reports) as and when any non-compliance is found by EPC/contractors and guide them to resolve the issues to meet project requirements/codes and standards.
- Closely monitor, guide, and regulate the interfacing issues between contractors and provide heads-up to avoid re-work.
- Investigate and report any safety incidents or near misses.
- Conduct regular inspections to monitor progress, quality, and safety standards.
- Collaborate with stakeholders to optimize project outcomes and mitigate risks.
- Supervise the on-site installation of mechanical systems and equipment.
- Conduct systematic inspections to ensure the quality and safety of mechanical installations.
- Oversee preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
Team Leadership:
- Lead and motivate a team of mechanical technicians and support staff.
- Offer guidance, training, and mentorship to junior team members.
- Cultivate a culture of safety and professionalism within the team.
- Assist in training and mentoring junior engineering staff members as needed.
Quality Assurance:
- Establish and maintain robust quality control procedures for mechanical work.
- Perform meticulous quality inspections to identify and rectify issues promptly.
- Guarantee that all mechanical work adheres to safety regulations and industry best practices.
- Investigate and report any safety incidents or near misses.
Budget Management:
- Efficiently manage the mechanical project budget, including cost estimation and control.
- Identify opportunities for cost savings without compromising quality.

- Ability to work in a fast-paced and challenging construction environment.
- Bachelor's degree in mechanical engineering or a closely related field.
- Minimum of 10-15 years of mechanical engineering site supervision experience, with a focus on power generation projects.
- Experience with Combined Cycle Gas turbines.
- Profound knowledge of mechanical systems, codes, and standards.
- Demonstrated expertise in project management and team leadership.
