WSP Middle East is seeking a highly skilled Senior Site Engineer - Electrical. You will be responsible for ensuring that all Electrical installations and activities on the project meet industry standards, project specifications, and regulatory requirements. You will conduct inspections, tests, and audits to verify that the construction and installation processes are executed correctly and safely, collaborating with project managers to develop project plans and schedules, ensuring that milestones are met on time and within budget, and monitoring and reporting project progress to senior management.
Your new role, what's involved?
Project Management :
- Collaborating with project managers to develop electrical project plans and schedules, ensuring milestones are met on time and within budget.
- Monitoring and reporting project progress to senior management.
- Manage and oversee Electrical activities and interfacing from inception to completion.
- Ensuring compliance with contract requirements, design specifications, applicable codes and regulatory requirements to ascertain quality and safety.
- Be well versed with the applicable codes, local regulations and industry standards to discharge duties.
- Collaborate with site staff, engineers, and contractors to develop project plans and schedules.
- Prepare project progress reports, documentation, and as-built drawings for client review and approval.
- Ensure the timely completion of project milestones within the allocated budget.
Electrical System Design :
- Reviewing and interpreting electrical engineering drawings and specifications, providing input to optimize electrical systems, and ensuring compliance with local electrical codes and regulations.
- Review of site related documentations like method statements, installation drawings, site testing procedures etc.
- Review of decommissioning study, feasibility study and associated risk assessment.
- Provide technical support during construction activities and resolve any issues or discrepancies that may arise.
- Collaborate with design teams to review engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documents.
- Addressing technical queries and providing solutions to any challenges encountered during implementation.
- Provide valuable input into the design phase to optimize electrical systems.
- Ensure strict compliance with local codes and regulations.
Installation and Testing :
- Supervising the installation of electrical systems and equipment on-site, conducting regular inspections to ensure quality and safety.
- Overseeing preventive and corrective maintenance activities.
- Conduct thorough inspections of I&C installations to ensure compliance with project drawings, specifications, and industry standards.
- Perform testing and commissioning of I&C systems, including but not limited to, loop checks, function tests, and system performance verification.
- Document and report any non-conformances or defects and follow up on corrective actions.
- Raising the NCR (Non-Compliance Report) as and when any non-compliance found by EPC / contractors.
- Guide the EPC / contractors to resolve the issues to meet the project requirements / codes and standards.
- Closely monitor, guide and regulate the interfacing issues between contractors.
- Investigate and report any safety incidents or near misses.
- Leading a team of electrical technicians and support staff, providing guidance, training, and mentorship to junior team members.
Quality Assurance :
- Implementing and maintaining quality control procedures for electrical work, conducting quality inspections, and promptly rectifying any issues.
- Review and verify material and equipment certifications, ensuring they meet project requirements and standards.
- Conduct routine audits of subcontractors and suppliers to ensure adherence to quality plans and procedures.
We'd love to hear from you if you have :
- Bachelor’s degree in electrical engineering or related field.
- Minimum of 10-15 years of experience in electrical engineering, with a focus on power generation projects.
- Experience with Combined Cycle Gas turbines.
- Professional engineering license preferred.
- In-depth knowledge of electrical systems, codes, and standards.
- Proven experience in project management and team leadership.
