As a Senior Sales Engineer – Aftersales (Retrofit), you’ll play a key role in driving retrofit and service sales growth, ensuring customer satisfaction, and expanding SKM’s after-sales footprint across the region.
Role Overview
The Senior Sales Engineer (Aftersales – Retrofit) is responsible for identifying, developing, and closing retrofit, replacement, and after-sales opportunities while also supporting warranty and service operations. This role requires a strong balance of technical HVAC knowledge and commercial acumen, with a proven ability to deliver retrofit solutions, service contracts (AMCs), and long-term customer value.
Key Responsibilities
- Retrofit & Service Sales (Core Focus)
- Identify, qualify, and secure retrofit, replacement, and refurbishment projects for HVAC systems (chillers, AHUs, package units, split systems).
- Prepare and deliver techno-commercial proposals, quotations, and cost estimates for retrofit solutions.
- Drive service revenue growth by expanding AMC contracts and upselling repair/retrofit jobs.
- Collaborate with customers, consultants, and distributors to position SKM as the partner of choice for aftersales and retrofit solutions.
- Lead client negotiations and ensure commercially competitive offers while protecting company profitability.
Service & Warranty Operations
- Support warranty/service-related complaints and ensure resolution within agreed KPIs.
- Coordinate with service teams to ensure resource and inventory readiness for aftersales jobs.
- Provide technical validation for warranty claims and retrofit proposals.
Technical & Customer Engagement
- Conduct site visits, technical presentations, and client meetings to identify retrofit needs and propose value-driven solutions.
- Support service engineers and technicians in troubleshooting when retrofit requirements arise.
- Act as a customer-facing technical advisor for retrofit and upgrade solutions.
Training & Development
- Share retrofit best practices and aftersales know-how with service teams, distributors, and partners.
- Mentor junior engineers and technicians on retrofit design, estimation, and execution.
Continuous Improvement & Quality
- Conduct root cause analysis of recurring technical issues and recommend retrofit/upgrade solutions.
- Provide feedback to Engineering and Production teams to improve reliability and serviceability of products.
- Ensure strict compliance with QHSE standards (ISO 9001, ISO 45001, ISO 14001) across retrofit and service operations.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering (preferred) OR equivalent professional experience.
- 7–10 years of HVAC aftersales/service experience, with at least 5 years in retrofit and service sales in the Gulf region.
Skills & Experience
- Proven track record in retrofit project sales, AMC/service contract management, and cost estimation.
- Strong HVAC systems expertise (chillers, AHUs, package/split units).
- Techno-commercial acumen: proposal preparation, pricing strategies, and client negotiations.
- Excellent communication and presentation skills; proficiency in English (Arabic/Hindi/Urdu an advantage).
