Raytheon is seeking a Senior Service Engineer , to support the Global Hawk (GH) program. In this role, you will be responsible for providing both field and software engineering support. Your key tasks will include :

  • Working with the Global Hawk Launch / Recovery Element to install hardware and software.
  • Checking out and debugging hardware and software systems.
  • Designing and developing solutions to problems identified during installation, checkout, and usage, or through system analysis.

You will work with a small team to maintain integrated ground segment equipment during flight tests. Your contributions will be critical to ensuring the effective deployment and operation of the Global Hawk systems.

This Accompanied position will be onsite in Naval Air Station Sigonella, Italy for an international assignment with additional compensation.

  • You may need to work a non-standard work week, including overtime, weekends, and shift work, to support customer tasking.
  • Additionally, you should be prepared for both CONUS (Continental United States) and OCONUS (Outside Continental United States) travel as needed to fulfill the requirements of the position.
  • Employment is contingent upon meeting all medical requirements for overseas assignments including comprehensive post-offer medical examination.

    What You Will Do

  • Conduct multidisciplinary research and collaborating with equipment designers in the planning, design, development, and utilization of electronic data processing systems for fielded operational software.
  • Determine root causes of issues, developing, designing, and implementing solutions, or coordinating with customer and plant engineers to resolve these issues.
  • Interface with customers to address short-term and long-term technical, operational, mission-related, and deployment requirements.
  • Determine end-user needs by analyzing system capabilities to resolve problems related to program intent, output requirements, and input data acquisition.
  • Ensure that hardware and software standards are met.
  • Develop, coordinate, and implement plans to achieve customer requirements.
  • Analyze system performance against technical requirements.
  • Research and make recommendations for hardware and software improvements.
  • Design and implement LAN / WAN configurations to support site-specific customer requirements.
  • Resolve technical problems and issues according to product specifications and engineering data to recommend repair and sustainment of the Launch / Recovery Element (LRE).
  • Perform maintenance and upgrades, as well as troubleshooting problems.
  • Troubleshoot industry standard IT systems, as well as program-specific hardware, software, and procedures.
  • Work closely with customer representatives to provide status updates and integrate customer changes.
  • Ensure that the Global Hawk program operates efficiently and meets all technical and operational requirements.

    Qualifications You Must Have

  • A University Degree or equivalent experience and minimum of 5 years prior relevant experience, or An Advanced Degree in a related field and minimum 3 years’ experience.
  • Experience with hardware / software maintenance / troubleshooting / design skills for UNIX systems.
  • Experience on SUN and / or SGI workstations (or equivalent UNIX platform), Ethernet networks (Fast / Giga), routers and switches.
  • Knowledge of networking (servers / hubs / switches / routers) and TCP / IP.
  • Active and transferable U.S. government issued Secret security clearance is required prior to start date.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are eligible for a security clearance.
  • Qualifications We Prefer

  • Experience in ATM LANs, long haul links, RF links, VOIP, and data communications.
  • Experience with UNIX general system administration.
  • Experience with UNIX coding / debugging.
  • Experience with scripting with C++, Java, and / or Perl.
  • Experience with Python, Sybase and / or SQL.
  • Experience with cryptographic devices such as KG75 / 175, STE telephones.
  • Experience or familiarity with HVAC, UPS systems, diesel generators.
  • Familiarity with data transmission over RF and satellite links.
  • Familiarity with the Global Hawk Ground Segment systems.

    The salary range for this role is 82,000 USD - 164,000 USD. The salary range provided is a good faith estimate representative of all experience levels.
