Job summary

AppliedAI invites a Senior Security Engineer to design and integrate security controls across cloud-native and AI-powered systems, embedding secure-by-design practices throughout the software lifecycle. You will drive automation of security processes, implement agentic security capabilities, and collaborate across security functions in our Abu Dhabi HQ.

You will assess threats, guide incident response, and support compliance programs (SOC 2, ISO 27001, GDPR).

Role Overview:

As a Senior Security Engineer you will play a pivotal role in designing and integrating security controls across cloud-native environments and AI-powered systems, ensuring that secure-by-design principles are embedded throughout the software development lifecycle.

The successful candidate will help define, pilot, and implement system architectures that support our reimagined information security vision, with the objective of automating security processes at scale across the design, development, and operational phases of solution delivery.

Working collaboratively across the broader information security organisation, spanning the first, second, and third lines of defence, the role will drive the delivery of agentic security capabilities and solutions aligned with our target operating model.

Key Responsibilities

• Conduct security assessments, threat hunts, code and logs reviews, and penetration testing to identify vulnerabilities in our applications, and drive continuous monitoring improvements.
• Design, implement, optimize, and monitor security controls and tooling from the ground up, strengthening security across endpoints, infrastructure, and application CI/CD pipelines.
• Own incident response for security events, from detection through containment, remediation, and post-incident review.
• Collaborate with engineering teams to raise the security bar through reviews, guidance, embedding security across SDLC and automation.
• Join customer-facing technical and security discussions where needed, acting as a trusted security point of contact.
• Support compliance initiatives and customer security requirements, including SOC 2, ISO 27001, ISO 42001, GDPR, HIPAA, and emerging AI regulations.

Key Skills & Experience

• At least 7 years experience within information security, ideally with a hands-on background in application or infrastructure security
• Solid understanding of core security principles and architectures
• Hands-on experience building, testing and deploying security solutions that automate complex processes
• Cloud platform experience (AWS, Azure, or GCP), including securing cloud-native infrastructure and services
• Working knowledge of core security tool categories: SIEM, vulnerability management, IAM, SAST/DAST
• Scripting or programming proficiency (Python preferred) for building automation and security tooling
• Experience of embedding security within the SDLC
• Exposure to AI and agentic systems (practical or conceptual), including:
• Security and governance for AI Solutions (Identity, observability, risks)
• Agentic Architecture and patterns (MCP, RAG, Tools, Memory, Harnesses)
• Experience working in complex, enterprise-scale environments
• Ability to translate security requirements into engineering-aligned solutions
• Solid grounding in network security fundamentals (TCP/IP, DNS, routing)
• Relevant certifications are a plus (e.g. CISSP, OSCP, CCSP, GIAC), though hands-on track record matters more than credentials
