Job summary

AESG is seeking a senior security design engineer to lead the planning, design, and implementation of comprehensive security solutions for large-scale Middle East projects. The role requires coordinating with clients and design teams to ensure security-by-design principles from concept to operation.

The candidate will develop technical specifications and integrate surveillance, access control, intrusion, and perimeter protection with architectural and MEP disciplines, while staying compliant

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in security engineering or related field.
• 5–10 years of experience in security design engineering or security risk management.
• Proven experience delivering large-scale built environment projects in the Middle East.
• Familiarity with regional security regulations including SIRA, HCIS, MOI.
• Strong knowledge of Security Risk Management methodologies and Security By Design principles.

Responsibilities

• Lead planning, design, and implementation of comprehensive security solutions for large-scale projects.
• Advise clients and design teams on security-by-design principles from concept through operation.
• Prepare security system designs for video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, perimeter protection, security lighting, and integrated command and control solutions.
• Review contractor submittals, conduct site inspections, and oversee construction and commissioning of security systems and structural security elements.
• Develop technical specifications, drawings, and design documentation with architecture, MEP, ICT, and landscape teams.
• Monitor emerging security technologies and regional trends to inform project delivery.

Job description

• Lead the planning, design, and implementation of comprehensive security solutions across large-scale built environment projects in the Middle East
• Develop holistic security strategies for mixed-use communities, transport hubs, critical infrastructure, and public realm projects
• Conduct security risk assessments aligned with regional and international standards
• Advise clients and design teams on security-by-design principles from concept through operation
• Prepare concept, schematic, and detailed technical security system designs for video surveillance, access control, intrusion detection, perimeter protection, security lighting, and integrated command and control solutions
• Prepare physical security designs for perimeter protection, walls, doors, gates, turnstiles, and vehicle security barriers
• Develop technical specifications, drawings, and design documentation with architecture, MEP, ICT, and landscape teams
• Ensure designs comply with relevant codes, standards, and local authority requirements, including SIRA, MOI, ADMCC, and HCIS
• Act as trusted advisor to clients and stakeholders on physical and technical security matters
• Support local authority approvals for security designs
• Deliver presentations, reports, and workshops explaining security design rationale and compliance
• Manage multiple projects and ensure timely, coordinated, high-quality deliverables
• Review contractor submittals, conduct site inspections, and oversee construction and commissioning of security systems and structural security elements
• Contribute to proposals, fee estimates, and bid presentations
• Monitor emerging physical and electronic security technologies, regional security trends, standards, and regulations
• Build and maintain relationships with security system manufacturers, suppliers, and integrators
• Maintain and pursue CPD and apply new knowledge to improve project delivery and consultancy services
• Provide technical guidance, feedback, and leadership to multidisciplinary project teams and junior members
• Build and maintain strong client relationships and support commercial success

Requirements

• Bachelor's degree in security engineering, security risk management, or related field
• 5-10 years of experience in security design engineering or security risk management
• Proven experience delivering large-scale built environment projects within the Middle East region
• Familiarity with regional security regulations and authority approval processes, including SIRA, HCIS, and MOI
• Strong knowledge of Security Risk Management methodologies
• Strong knowledge of Security by Design principles
• Experience integrating security design with other disciplines
• Excellent communication, client engagement, and technical report writing skills
• Knowledge of physical security, electronic security systems, and integrated security design
• Ability to independently manage complex projects and resolve complex project issues
• Ability to guide and mentor junior team members
• Ability to create and manage project budgets, track expenses, allocate resources, and ensure cost control
• Ability to manage vendor relationships, negotiate contracts, and ensure cost-effective procurement
