Job Purpose
Responsible for daily monitoring and processing of settlement operations for equities, mutual funds, fixed income, hedge funds, structured funds, ETFs, securities lending and borrowing, local market short selling, and for ensuring the highest quality client service delivery as per international standards.
Responsibilities
- Monitor and process daily settlement operations across domestic, regional, and international markets, ensuring highest quality client service delivery.
- Handle extremely complex settlement transactions across local, regional, and international markets, including receipt of client, market, and sub‑custodian instructions, validating correctness, and ensuring timely matching and settlement.
- Communicate with clients, counterparties, markets, sub‑custodians, regulators, brokers, paying agents, issuers, and other entities across local, regional, and global markets regarding settlement processes and support due diligence visits.
- Adhere to established quality control measures and procedures, and provide first‑level training for new specialists and assistance to specialists handling inquiries.
- Manage cash to facilitate smooth settlements across all markets.
- Participate actively in understanding the operating module, including securities lending and borrowing transactions that are large in value and complex, ensuring successful settlement and avoiding loss/penalties to the bank and clients.
- Coordinate with internal departments and external entities to re‑engineer processes, reduce manual activities, and respond to market changes, upgrades, and risk identification.
- Engage in department offerings such as Position Management, Security/Cash Settlement, Corporate Actions, Reporting, Invoicing, Reconciliation, Swift, Market Security Movement, FX Management, Cash Management, Project Support, Proxy Services, Tax Reclaims, Income Management, and planned expansions.
- Participate in system upgrades, processing enhancements, off‑hours system testing, and implementation of settlement processing related to new client SLAs, SLDs, sub‑custodian SLAs, new functions, products, market rules, regulations, and procedures.
- Identify potential risks and create appropriate controls, coordinating with external entities to support projects for process excellence and cost reduction.
Minimum Experience & Qualifications
- 5+ years of related experience in security services and/or back‑office operations (e.g., managing securities settlements and corporate actions).
- Solid understanding of security services, operations, and accounting activities related to securities.
- Ability to work under pressure, prioritize effectively, and manage multiple tasks simultaneously.
- Team‑oriented mindset with ability to perform in high‑pressure environments.
- Ability to achieve business objectives without compromising established controls and risk parameters.
- Strong execution skills, multitasking, and follow‑up effectiveness.
- Self‑starter with a positive attitude, strong communication and interpersonal skills.
- High level of accuracy, attention to detail, and strong teamwork capabilities.
- Experience with securities‑related functions such as settlement, client services, corporate actions, data maintenance & billing, or custody account opening is an added advantage.
