  • Troubleshoot isometric output issues resulting from configuration, data, or modeling conditions.
  • Create and maintain General Arrangement drawing view styles.
  • Develop GA view styles supporting piping drawings.
  • Configure drawing presentation requirements for electrical disciplines.
  • Establish view styles for instrumentation deliverables.
  • Support structural drawing configuration through appropriate S3D view styles.
  • Develop engineering reports from S3D data.
  • Apply detailed knowledge of S3D interfaces and class relationships when designing reporting solutions.
  • Create complex reports using COM technologies.
  • Support report development using VB.Net or C# where applicable.
  • Ensure reports extract and present engineering information accurately for project users.
  • Develop custom commands to extend standard S3D functionality.
  • Use C# and VB.Net for custom command creation where project requirements call for application-level automation.
  • Support engineering productivity through practical customization rather than unnecessary manual processes.
  • Maintain custom solutions so that they remain compatible with established project workflows.
  • Configure GWC as part of project administration requirements.
  • Perform S3D setup activities including database restoration.
  • Establish and administer Permission Groups according to project access requirements.
  • Configure S3D system hierarchy during project setup.
  • Maintain appropriate user access while protecting controlled project information.
  • Configure interference checking environments.
  • Establish codeless interference rules based on project engineering requirements.
  • Support engineering teams in applying interference controls effectively during model development.

  • Escalate infrastructure or application problems when specialist support outside the S3D environment is required.
  • Maintain a strong understanding of engineering modeling procedures.
  • Guide designers toward appropriate S3D modeling methods when application issues are linked to working practices.
  • Develop and communicate modeling best practices that improve consistency and reduce recurring problems.
  • Work with engineering disciplines to understand project-specific application requirements.
  • Translate engineering requirements into practical S3D configurations.
  • Conduct functional testing of application functionality and configuration changes.
  • Verify customized functions before release to engineering users.
  • Support testing of catalogs, reports, commands, drawing configurations, and administrative changes.

Ideal Profile

A Bachelor 's degree in Engineering, Computer Science, or a related technical discipline is required. Candidates should bring approximately 5-15 years of hands-on S3D administration experience, with substantial practical exposure to Hexagon Smart 3D project environments. Strong project setup capability is essential. The successful candidate should understand database restoration, Permission Groups, system hierarchy, GWC configuration, interference setup, naming rules, filters, surface style rules, and engineering review-file creation. Detailed S3D catalog experience is required across piping and preferably multiple engineering disciplines. This includes piping specifications, piping rules, equipment, electrical, instrumentation, structural catalogs, and symbol development. Candidates should understand S3D interfaces and class relationships sufficiently to develop sophisticated engineering reports. Extensive COM-based report creation capability is expected, while VB.Net and C# report development experience provides additional value. Programming capability in C# and VB.Net is important for creating custom S3D commands and supporting project-specific automation. Practical knowledge of SQL and Oracle Server database environments is required for application administration and troubleshooting. The preferred candidate will understand engineering design practices and project execution concepts rather than approaching S3D solely as an IT application. Hands-on troubleshooting experience with designer and modeling issues is essential, including the ability to establish best practices that reduce recurring problems. Candidates should be capable of conducting functional testing and validating application changes before deployment. In-depth exposure to AVEVA 3D or another SmartPlant application is expected. Knowledge of AVEVA Engineering and AVEVA Net-AIM is an additional advantage. Good communication skills are essential because the administrator works directly with engineering users, application teams, project stakeholders, and technical support functions.
