Job description

The role is a senior leadership position responsible for overseeing the financial operations of a hotel or hospitality establishment. The Director of Finance plays a crucial role in ensuring the financial health and stability of the organization, contributing to the overall success of the organization.

ABOUT THE FUNCTION

This function is to direct and oversee the Company’s accounting activities on both the cost and financial sets of accounts based on statutory requirements and auditing policies. Implement and incorporate areas for improvements to enhance efficiency and effectiveness in the work environment.

PERFORMANCE DRIVEN CULTURE: WHAT WILL YOU BE MEASURED AGAINST

  • Achievement of financial targets and objectives, including revenue goals, profit margins, and cost management.
  • Adherence to the established budgets for different departments within the hospitality establishment, monitoring and controlling expenses to ensure alignment with budgetary constraints.
  • Accuracy and timeliness of financial reporting, including the preparation and presentation of financial statements, forecasts, and analyses.
  • Effectiveness in managing cash flow to meet operational needs and ensure liquidity.
  • Adherence to internal controls and compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and company policies. Successful completion of internal and external audits with minimal findings.
  • Identification and mitigation of financial risks, including proactive measures to address potential challenges to the organization's financial stability.
  • Ability to conduct thorough financial analysis, providing valuable insights into the organization's financial health and making strategic recommendations for improvement.

TECHNICAL SKILLS AND COMPETENCIES

  • Proficiency in using and optimizing financial management systems and enterprise resource planning (ERP) software.
  • Experience in implementing and optimizing ERP systems for financial management, ensuring seamless integration and efficient workflow.
  • Familiarity with advanced accounting software for financial reporting, budgeting, and forecasting.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Excel for financial analysis, modeling, and data manipulation.
  • Knowledge of treasury management systems for effective cash flow management and liquidity optimization.
  • Use of risk management tools and software to identify, assess, and mitigate financial risks.
  • Proficiency in contract management systems for overseeing vendor agreements and contracts.
  • Understanding of data security protocols and awareness of cybersecurity risks related to financial systems.
  • Knowledge of tools for generating comprehensive and accurate financial reports.
  • Awareness of and experience with mobile financial applications for on-the-go financial monitoring.

QUALIFICATIONS, EXPERIENCE & LANGUAGE PROFICIENCY

  • A bachelor's degree in finance, accounting, or business administration.
  • Professional certifications such as Certified Public Accountant (CPA), Chartered Financial Analyst (CFA), or Certified Management Accountant (CMA).
  • Proven experience in developing and implementing strategic financial plans aligned with overall business objectives.
  • Advanced financial analysis skills, with the ability to interpret complex financial data and provide actionable insights.
  • Experience overseeing internal and external audits, ensuring compliance with accounting standards, regulations, and company policies.
  • Experience in identifying and mitigating financial risks, implementing risk management strategies, and ensuring financial stability.
