Job summary

Rakbank is seeking an experienced professional to oversee the end-to-end lifecycle of models, ensuring robust governance and documentation. You will work with risk, compliance and audit teams, regulators and external partners to uphold CBUAE standards and risk appetite.

The role emphasizes leadership in governance, reporting to senior management and driving remediation across model portfolios within a bank-wide framework.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Finance, Risk Management, Statistics, Data Science or related discipline.
• 7 to 10 years of experience in model governance, model risk management, regulatory risk or risk governance.
• Strong understanding of model lifecycle management, governance frameworks and regulatory expectations, including CBUAE MMSG.
• Experience working with auditors, regulators and governance committees.
• Ability to assess governance controls, identify gaps and ensure consistency across different model types and business units.

Responsibilities

• Oversee end-to-end model lifecycle, covering development, validation, implementation and ongoing monitoring.
• Ensure models are supported by complete and accurate documentation, including development documents, validation reports and implementation records.
• Ensure compliance with CBUAE model management standards and other applicable regulatory requirements.
• Maintain governance controls and ensure the required approvals are obtained before models are deployed into production.
• Monitor model performance and track validation findings through to timely closure and remediation.
• Own and maintain the bank’s model inventory, ensuring that it remains accurate, comprehensive and up to date.
• Assess, monitor and report model risk in line with the bank’s risk appetite.
• Provide senior management with clear reporting on model performance, risks and emerging concerns.
• Work closely with model owners, validation teams, Risk Management, Finance, Compliance, Internal Audit, Regulatory Affairs, external vendors and regulators.
• Lead the planning and execution of Model Oversight Committee meetings, including agenda setting, stakeholder coordination and documenting decisions.
• Monitor regulatory developments and industry practices to enhance model governance policies, frameworks and procedures.
