Job description

Job Title: Resident Engineer

Location: Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates

Responsibilities

1. Lead the on-site supervision and management of infrastructure and utilities works, including roads, drainage, water supply, electrical, telecommunications, and other civil works.
2. Oversee and coordinate the activities of site engineers, inspectors, and technical staff, ensuring high standards of safety, quality, and performance.
3. Review and approve construction plans, method statements, and material submittals to ensure compliance with project specifications and local regulations.
4. Monitor contractor performance, resolve technical issues, and ensure timely project delivery within budget.
5. Conduct regular site inspections, quality audits, and risk assessments to identify and mitigate potential project delays or safety risks.
6. Prepare and present detailed progress reports, technical assessments, and project status updates to senior management and clients.
7. Foster strong working relationships with clients, contractors, local authorities, and other stakeholders to ensure smooth project execution.
8. Ensure strict adherence to health, safety, and environmental (HSE) regulations and project safety plans.

Qualifications

1. Bachelor's degree in Civil Engineering or a related field (Master's degree preferred).
2. Minimum of 20 years of experience in infrastructure and utilities supervision, with at least 10 years in a senior resident engineer or site supervision role within a construction consultancy in Abu Dhabi.
3. In-depth knowledge of Abu Dhabi's regulatory frameworks, municipal authority standards, and site inspection procedures.
4. Strong technical expertise in civil infrastructure, utilities, and roadworks.
5. Excellent leadership, communication, and problem-solving skills.
6. Professional registration (e.g., Chartered Engineer, Professional Engineer) is an advantage.
