Job summary

AECOM in Abu Dhabi seeks an experienced Resident Engineer to supervise building construction on-site, ensuring design compliance and top-quality safety standards throughout the project lifecycle. You will oversee daily activities, coordinate with contractors and engineers, and lead QA/QC processes to resolve technical issues promptly.

The ideal candidate has extensive UAE construction experience, BIM familiarity, and strong leadership.

Qualifications

• 15+ years post-undergraduate experience
• 5+ years in a senior technical position
• Bachelor degree in Civil/Structural engineering; PMP preferred
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies and codes
• Ability to read and interpret drawings and specs
• QA/QC expertise for structural, MEP systems
• Experience with BIM and digital docs is preferred
• Excellent communication and stakeholder coordination skills

Job description

We are seeking an experienced Resident Engineer for building supervision to join our team in Abu Dhabi United Arab this role you will serve as the on-site representative responsible for overseeing construction activities ensuring compliance with design specifications and maintaining the highest standards of quality and safety throughout the project lifecycle. The ideal candidate will demonstrate strong technical expertise exceptional organizational skills and the ability to make decisive decisions in a fast-paced construction environment.

• Conduct daily site inspections to monitor construction progress quality of workmanship and adherence to approved plans and specifications
• Verify that all construction activities comply with relevant building codes safety regulations and project requirements
• Review and approve construction materials equipment and installation methods before implementation
• Maintain comprehensive site documentation including daily reports inspection records photographs and correspondence
• Coordinate with contractors subcontractors architects and engineers to resolve technical issues and ensure seamless project execution
• Identify and document any deviations from design specifications and recommend corrective actions
• Monitor Health Safety and Environment (HSE) compliance and report any incidents or hazards
• Prepare progress reports and communicate project status to project management and stakeholders
• Manage site logistics including material storage equipment placement and traffic flow
• Conduct quality assurance testing and inspections on structural mechanical electrical and plumbing systems
• Maintain accurate records of site activities changes and approvals for project archives
• Collaborate with the project team to develop and implement solutions for construction challenges

Qualifications :

• Minimum of 15 years post-undergraduate experience plus 5 years in a senior technical position.
• Bachelor Degree in relevant Engineering field (i.e. Civil Structural etc) and PMP preferable plus membership of a recognized professional institution preferred
• Strong knowledge of construction methodologies building codes and industry standards
• Proficiency in interpreting architectural and engineering drawings and specifications
• Demonstrated expertise in quality control and quality assurance processes
• Solid understanding of structural mechanical electrical and plumbing (MEP) systems
• Experience with construction management software and digital documentation tools
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills with the ability to coordinate multiple stakeholders
• Strong analytical and problem-solving abilities with attention to detail
• Knowledge of Health Safety and Environment (HSE) regulations and best practices
• Proficiency in preparing technical reports and site documentation
• Familiarity with UAE construction standards regulations and local building codes (preferred)
• Experience with Building Information Modeling (BIM) software (preferred)
• Background in high-rise or complex building projects (preferred)
• Leadership and team coordination experience (preferred)
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite and project management tools
