Job summary

Athar Group in the United Arab Emirates, Sharjah, seeks a seasoned Chief Accountant to lead the full accounting cycle, including IFRS reporting, rent and asset accounting, budgeting, VAT, payroll, and financial controls for a growing real estate portfolio. This role requires strong UAE experience and fluency in English and Arabic.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance or related field.
• CA, ACCA, CPA or CMA qualification highly desirable.
• Experience with accounting software recognized and approved by the FTA.

Responsibilities

• Run full accounting cycle for each company: ledger, reconciliations, month-end and year-end close.
• Account for rent, tenant deposits and each building's income/costs; reconcile leasing records.
• Prepare financial statements for property owners and internal corporate statements.
• Track receivables and arrears; forecast collections; set recovery priorities with leasing team.
• Prepare annual budget, budget vs actual, weekly cash position and rolling 13-week cash flow forecast.
• Manage payables, accruals, fixed assets and payment runs with proper approvals.
• Keep VAT and Corporate Tax filings up to date with auditors and advisers.
• Run monthly payroll through WPS; manage leave and gratuity accruals; maintain HR records.
• Provide timely financial statements and performance reports to Managing Director; offer risks/recommendations.
• Support renovation/project decisions with cost, cash flow and return analyses.
• Collaborate with leasing and facilities on tenancy data, billing, receipts, and deposits.
• Respond to financial queries from tenants, suppliers and contractors; liaise with banks, auditors and advisers.
• Establish chart of accounts, finance procedures, reporting calendar and suitable accounting system.
• Implement written controls over approvals, payments, and reconciliations; review by MD as needed.
• Track and close audit findings and report material risks to MD.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in accounting/finance

CA/ACCA/CPA/CMA qualification
