Job summary

MPH is seeking a trained Radiation Protection Technician to provide radiological protection for employees, the public and environment in Abu Dhabi. You will conduct in-field monitoring, surveys, sampling and ensure compliance with regulations.

The role requires independent work, ALARA planning, dose control, and maintaining records; prior nuclear plant experience or recent refueling outage exposure is preferred; fluent English and ability to work in harsh conditions are essential.

Qualifications

• 3 years related experience, including a year at nuclear power plants or 2 refueling outages
• Successful completion of a training program based on a systematic approach to training plus 1 year of nuclear plant experience
• Fluent English (speaking, reading, writing)
• Ability to work at heights, in heat, and confined spaces
• Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
• Capable of decisive action to keep personnel safe from radiological hazards

Responsibilities

• Provide radiological coverage during routine and special activities, including remote monitoring
• Conduct radiological surveys to identify hazards and ensure radiation hazards control procedures are followed
• Monitor access controls for various radiological conditions and contaminated areas
• Perform radiological decontamination surveillance and document results
• Select and issue appropriate PPC and respiratory equipment for radiation and airborne conditions
• Document and maintain survey records per procedure
• Use ALARA plans and Radiation Work Permits for controls and shielding
• Enforce dose limits and stay times in radiation-controlled zones
• Secure plant areas to prevent contamination spread and safeguard personnel
• Prepare, analyze, survey and package radioactive material for shipment when required
• Report any unusual conditions and ensure safe work stoppages when needed
• Maintain shift handover with relevant radiological and nuclear safety information
• Release radiological controlled equipment as per procedure
• Routinely coach workers on radiological conditions and precautions
• Familiarity with established practices for radiation hazards control and decisive action in isolated areas
• Perform related duties per Radiation Protection Management request
