Job description

Responsible for ensuring safe and compliant use of ionizing & nonionizing radiation in accordance with FANR (Federal Authority for Nuclear Regulation) and Abu Dhabi Department of Health regulations. Work across healthcare facilities, research labs.

Key Responsibilities
  • Conduct routine radiation surveys and dose rate monitoring at medical, industrial, and research sites.
  • Implement ALARA principles via time, distance, shielding, and PPE protocols.
  • Ensure compliance with FANR regulations and Abu Dhabi-specific rules.
  • Prepare/submission of regulatory filings, incident reports, and license renewals.
  • Calibrate and maintain radiation detection instruments, dosimeters, and monitoring systems.
  • Develop and deliver radiation safety training for radiographers, lab personnel, engineers, contractors.
  • Coordinate sealed source handling, leak testing, and emergency drills.
  • Draft and lead radiation incident & spill response plans.
  • Perform contamination surveys and decontamination procedures.
  • Oversee safe storage, transportation, and disposal of radioactive materials/waste following FANR guidance ICTD.
Qualifications & Certifications

Bachelors or Masters in Health Physics, Radiological Science, Nuclear Engineering, or related field.

Certified Radiation Protection Officer (RPO) certificate, accredited for FANR (offered in Abu Dhabi).

35 years in radiation safety roles in medical, industrial, or nuclear.
