Job summary

Stantec is seeking a Senior Quantity Surveyor to join our Buildings team in Abu Dhabi, UAE. You will manage all quantity surveying and commercial activities on large building projects, including cost estimates, BOQs, tender documents, contract administration, and final accounts.

The role requires a minimum of 15 years of QS experience, including at least 5 years in the UAE, with strong knowledge of FIDIC contracts and claims management.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's Degree in Quantity Surveying, Civil Engineering, Construction Management, or related discipline.
• Minimum 15 years of experience as a Quantity Surveyor in building projects.
• At least 5 years of relevant experience in the UAE.
• Background in consultancy companies is ideal.
• Strong knowledge of FIDIC contracts and contract administration practices.
• Experience in claims management, variation assessment, cost control, procurement, and final account negotiations.
• Strong analytical, commercial, and problem-solving skills.
• Excellent communication, negotiation, and stakeholder management abilities.
• Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
• Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.

Responsibilities

• Manage all quantity surveying and commercial activities on building projects.
• Prepare cost estimates, quantity take-offs, Bills of Quantities (BOQs), tender documentation, and contract documents.
• Administer contracts and ensure compliance with contractual obligations and project requirements.
• Review, evaluate, and negotiate variations, claims, extension of time submissions, and additional cost claims.
• Prepare, submit, and negotiate interim payment applications and final accounts.
• Monitor project budgets, cash flow, forecasts, and commercial performance.
• Provide commercial and contractual support to Project Managers, Resident Engineers, and project teams.
• Manage subcontractor procurement, contract administration, and final account settlements.
• Identify commercial risks and opportunities and recommend mitigation measures.
• Maintain accurate records of contractual correspondence, commercial documentation, and project financial data.
• Liaise with clients, contractors, consultants, and relevant authorities on commercial and contractual matters.
• Participate in project meetings, progress reviews, and commercial negotiations.
• Ensure compliance with company policies, quality standards, and health and safety requirements.
• Prepare monthly commercial reports and management updates.
