Job summary

Confidential Company in Dubai is seeking aSenior Quantity Surveyor with 8+ years’ experience in infrastructure or building projects to lead cost estimation, risk assessment, and contract administration. You will oversee subcontract negotiations, provide value engineering insights, and report on budgets and forecasts.

Proficiency in CostX, AutoCAD and MS Office is required, with excellent English communication and leadership skills.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying or related field.
  • MRICS or equivalent professional certification.
  • 8+ years of quantity surveying experience on infra or building projects.
  • Proficient with CostX, AutoCAD and MS Office.
  • Strong analytical, negotiation and communication skills.
  • Fluency in English; open to all nationalities.

Responsibilities

  • Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates across all project phases from inception to completion.
  • Conduct thorough risk assessments and implement mitigation strategies.
  • Manage contracts, payment applications, change orders and variations.
  • Oversee subcontract negotiations and terms with subcontractors.
  • Advise on cost-saving opportunities and value engineering.
  • Prepare and present cost forecasts and budget performance analyses.
  • Mentor junior quantity surveyors and promote best practices.
  • Conduct site visits to verify quantities and monitor progress.
  • Resolve disputes and claims to minimize financial impact.
  • Collaborate with project managers and engineers for smooth execution.

Job description

  • Lead the preparation of detailed cost estimates, encompassing all project phases, from inception to completion, ensuring accuracy and competitive pricing.
  • Conduct comprehensive risk assessments, identifying potential financial exposures and implementing mitigation strategies throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Manage and administer contracts, including the preparation of payment applications, change orders, and variations, protecting the company's financial interests.
  • Oversee the preparation and negotiation of subcontract agreements, ensuring favorable terms and conditions while maintaining strong relationships with subcontractors.
  • Provide expert advice on cost-saving opportunities and value engineering initiatives, maximizing project profitability.
  • Prepare and present financial reports, including cost forecasts and budget performance analysis, to stakeholders.
  • Mentor and guide junior quantity surveyors, fostering their professional development and ensuring adherence to best practices.
  • Conduct site visits to monitor progress, assess work quality, and verify quantities, ensuring compliance with contract documents.
  • Resolve contractual disputes and claims, negotiating settlements and minimizing financial impact.
  • Collaborate with project managers, engineers, and other stakeholders, ensuring effective communication and seamless project execution.
Desired Candidate Profile
  • Possesses a Bachelor's degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or a related field.
  • Holds professional certifications such as MRICS or equivalent, demonstrating commitment to industry standards.
  • Demonstrates a minimum of 8 years of relevant experience in quantity surveying, with a proven track record of successful project delivery.
  • Exhibits extensive experience in the construction industry, with a focus on infrastructure or building projects.
  • Proficient in using relevant software such as CostX, AutoCAD, and Microsoft Office Suite.
  • Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to interpret complex data and make informed decisions.
  • Possesses excellent communication and negotiation skills, able to effectively communicate with stakeholders at all levels.
  • Demonstrates a proactive and results-oriented approach, with a strong work ethic and a commitment to meeting deadlines.
  • Exhibits strong leadership qualities, with the ability to manage and motivate a team of quantity surveyors.
  • Nationality: Open to all nationalities. Language Requirements: Fluency in English is mandatory.
