Job Overview:

We are seeking an experienced and highly skilled Senior Quantity Surveyor with over 15 years of experience to join our team for a major airport construction project. The ideal candidate will be responsible for providing comprehensive cost management, contract administration, and financial oversight throughout all phases of the project. This role requires an individual with proven experience in large-scale infrastructure projects, especially in the aviation sector, with a deep understanding of construction methodologies, cost control, and risk management.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cost Management:
  • Prepare, manage, and update project budgets, forecasts, and cost plans.
  • Monitor, control, and report on project expenditure to ensure adherence to approved budgets.
  • Analyze variances between planned and actual costs, and recommend corrective actions.
  • Contract Administration:
  • Lead contract negotiations and manage all pre and post-contract activities, including tendering, procurement, and sub-contractor management.
  • Evaluate contract variations, claims, and ensure contract compliance.
  • Prepare monthly valuations, payments, and final accounts in line with contract requirements.
  • Identify, assess, and mitigate potential risks related to project costs and timelines.
  • Ensure proactive measures are in place to manage cost risks, claims, and delays.
  • Conduct value engineering and cost-benefit analysis to optimize project efficiency and ensure cost-effective solutions are implemented without compromising quality.
  • Reporting and Documentation:
  • Provide regular financial progress reports, including cost-to-complete reports and earned value analysis.
  • Maintain up-to-date documentation on project costs, variations, claims, and approvals.
  • Team Leadership & Stakeholder Management:
  • Lead and mentor a team of junior quantity surveyors and contract administrators.
  • Collaborate closely with project managers, architects, engineers, contractors, and client representatives.
  • Attend regular project meetings, providing input on project financials and contract matters.
  • Compliance:
  • Ensure all works are in line with the applicable regulations, legal requirements, and industry standards.
  • Promote compliance with health and safety standards throughout the project lifecycle.

Requirements:

  • Experience:
  • Minimum 15 years of experience in quantity surveying, with a strong focus on large-scale infrastructure projects, preferably in airport construction.
  • Education:
  • Bachelors degree in Quantity Surveying, Construction Management, or Civil Engineering.
  • Chartered status (MRICS or equivalent) is highly desirable.
  • Technical Skills:
  • Proficiency in quantity surveying software (e.g., CostX, CATO, or equivalent).
  • Strong understanding of FIDIC contracts and other construction contract forms.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Previous experience working on international airport projects.
  • Knowledge of local construction regulations and standards.
