Job summary

An established industry player is seeking a Quantity Surveying Manager to oversee cost control and commercial aspects of projects. In this pivotal role, you will prepare and analyze budgets, monitor site progress, and ensure that procurement and QS teams achieve their full potential. You will liaise with Contract Managers and site staff to address issues and provide support, while also preparing contract performance reports for upper management. This position offers the opportunity to lead a dedicated team and make a significant impact on project success in a dynamic contracting environment.

Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in contracting companies in GCC.
  • Strong background in cost control and budget preparation.

Job description

Job Title: Quantity Surveying Manager

Reports To: Commercial Director

Department: Contract

In-Direct Reports: QS Team

Position Objective:

  • Control of costs and monitoring all commercial aspects of a development from pretender enquiries through to Subcontractor Final Accounts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Prepare budgets for the pre-tendering process for both the QS and the Procurements.
  • Analyze groundwork’s tenders with QS.
  • Ensure that QS and procurement are achieving the full potential of the tenders.
  • In conjunction with Purchasing Department input into the preparation of Bills of Quantities for nonstandard designs.
  • Create price sets to enable QS’s to make payments.
  • Check payments with QS prior to authorization.
  • Create house bills from price sets going through with both QS and procurements.
  • Prepare and evaluate site works budgets.
  • Prepare full site budget.
  • Agree with QS timetable to complete valuations and monitor progress throughout the agreed valuation period.
  • Prepare summary of monthly valuation results.
  • Prepare site progress accumulative figures for Finance.
  • Prepare contract performance reports for COO and go through results.
  • Any other duties as assigned.

Job Specification:

  • 10+ years’ experience working in well-established Contracting Companies in GCC.

Key Skills and Competencies:

  • Attend weekly Build and Sales meetings and report on any issues that may arise.
  • Liaise with Contract Managers regarding any preliminary issues or any re-occurring subcontractor problems.
  • Visit sites with both QS and Contract Managers to establish their problems and provide support to site staff. Attend monthly site meetings and present the Commercial report with QS.
  • Liaise with Technical Department regarding company information systems set-up for new sites.

Education and Certification:

  • BS Engineering and MS in Construction Management is highly desirable.
