Position Purpose:
The Quantity Surveyor is responsible for managing all aspects related to project costs from initial estimates to final accounts and surveying sites to ensure for quantity and quality assurance. This includes cost planning, procurement advice, contract administration, valuation of works, quantity assurance, and risk management. The role supports efficient budget utilization while maintaining quality and compliance in construction and infrastructure projects.
Roles & Responsibilities:
- Cost Planning & Estimating: Prepare detailed cost estimates and preliminary budgets, manage cost plans, feasibility studies for construction projects.
- BOQ Preparation: Prepare accurate Bills of Quantities based on architectural, structural, and MEP drawings.
- Tendering Support: Assist in preparing tender documentation, conducting tender evaluations, and advising on contract awards.
- Valuation & Payment: Measure and value ongoing works and prepare interim payment applications and final accounts.
- Cost Control: Monitor project costs, assess variations, and report on cost performance.
- Contract Management: Interpret contract conditions, manage variations and claims, and support dispute resolution.
- Site Visits & Inspections: Conduct regular site visits for quantity verification and to ensure adherence to contractual terms.
- Reporting: Provide regular cost and commercial updates to project stakeholders.
- Compliance: Ensure adherence to local regulations, codes of practice, and internal standards.
Job Specific Knowledge and Skills:
- Thorough understanding of quantity surveying techniques and construction methodologies.
- Proficient in measurement tools and software (e.g., CostX, PlanSwift, Bluebeam).
- Solid knowledge of contract types, especially FIDIC, JCT, and NEC.
- Experience preparing BOQs, cost estimates, and final accounts.
- Strong commercial and financial awareness.
- Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
- Skilled in negotiation, contract interpretation, and dispute resolution.
- Ability to work independently and as part of a multidisciplinary team.
- Meticulous attention to detail and strong organizational abilities.
Preferred Qualifications & Experience:
- Education: Bachelor’s degree in Quantity Surveying, construction management, Civil Engineering, or a related field.
- Certifications: MRICS, AIQS, or equivalent accreditation is preferred.
- Experience: At least 8 years of proven experience in quantity surveying within the construction and fit-out or infrastructure sectors
