Job Overview

The Senior Quality Inspector utilizes best practices and knowledge of internal or external issues to enhance the inspection discipline within McDermott. They serve as a resource for colleagues with less experience, sharing their expertise related to the inspection discipline. The Senior Quality Inspector addresses complex problems and applies discipline-specific knowledge to improve products or services. They influence customer, operational, project, or service activities with the inspection team and other related teams, ensuring adherence to guidelines and policies.

Qualifications

• Senior high school diploma or degree in a related field
• 10+ years of experience in Quality Control or a related discipline
• Proficiency with computers and Microsoft Office programs such as Word, Excel, and Outlook

Responsibilities

• Supervise Quality Control activities to verify product conformity to customer specifications through independent inspections and tests as per the Project Quality Plan
• Identify non-conformities and ensure their resolution
• Lead, supervise, and participate in inspection activities to maintain product quality
• Consult with the Project Quality Manager on prevention and assessment resources, and evaluate the effectiveness of the Project Quality Plan and Procedures
• Initiate evaluations for non-conforming items
• Develop Project Quality Plans, inspection, and test plans in collaboration with the Project Quality Manager
• Coordinate with QC/NDT/Certification/Welding Engineering and customers to address and resolve quality issues
• Assess product quality based on the Project Quality Plan, Inspection & Test Plan, determining conformity or non-conformity
• Interpret applicable code specifications and customer requirements; document deviations, clarifications, and waivers through the Site Query System
• Coordinate interfaces with Operations, Certifying Authority, Clients, and subcontractors to ensure conformity to project specifications
• Verify QC inspector effectiveness through random audits of CIRs
• Proactively prevent problems by collaborating with production, engineers, and management
• Engage with customer representatives to ensure product conformity and stage releases as per the Project Quality Plan/ITP
