Job Description
Overall responsibilities :
- Work on project execution, coordination, planning, and supervise a team of designers, automation programmers, I&C site engineers, supervisors, foremen, technicians, and other crews. Assign project tasks.
- Design and implement process instrumentation and control systems from initial conception through field installation.
- Coordinate with clients/customers on site-related matters and resolve ongoing project issues.
- Support manufacturing and development processes to bring designs to completion.
- Contribute to project estimation & sales efforts, and assist in submitting new technical proposals.
Day-to-day responsibilities :
- Plan, manage, supervise, and execute project-related tasks as assigned by the Project Manager / HOD; oversee ongoing project execution activities.
- Review instrumentation drawings, logic diagrams, tables, PLC, and DCS configurations. Collaborate with designers/draftsmen on detailed design and obtain client approval.
- Review design and implementation of control systems, ensuring compliance with standards and codes.
- Generate design documentation as per vendor documentation requirements.
- Provide final checks and approval of all instrumentation design deliverables.
- Coordinate with clients/customers and internal teams to resolve project issues and provide technical support and troubleshooting.
- Enhance customer satisfaction by planning and executing service work according to customer expectations, ensuring retention through superior service and clear communication.
- Perform complex field service tasks, identify technical problems, and analyze issues through remote or on-site activities. Coordinate and resolve high-level technical issues, providing advice and recommendations.
- Supervise and manage subcontractors in design and field construction, ensuring project completion.
- Liaise with other departments, OEMs, distributors, and clients for effective project management.
- Work closely with manufacturing during development to finalize designs, obtaining necessary approvals.
- Ensure engineering activities comply with safety regulations and contractual requirements, supporting risk and opportunity assessments.
- Identify opportunities for repeat and new business, review project documents for conformity, safety, and quality, and support in issuing claims.
- Assist in project estimation and technical proposal submissions.
- Train and mentor junior engineers, delegate tasks appropriately.
Qualifications
- Bachelor's Degree in Electrical, Instrumentation, or Mechatronics Engineering with over 10 years of experience in industrial automation, including familiarity with EPC aspects in onshore and offshore sectors.
Additional Information
Experience Requirements :
- 10+ years of experience, with at least 5 years in UAE or Middle East.
- Experience with onshore/offshore Oil & Gas clients like ADNOC or power & water sectors.
- Proven expertise in industrial automation engineering and system integration.
- Excellent PLC and HMI coding knowledge.
- Knowledge of industry standards and regulations.
- Preferred experience as I&C / Site Engineer in similar industries.
- HSE compliance and ability to work in multidisciplinary teams.
Skills & Professional Requirements :
- Configuration and programming of automation and control systems (DCS, HMI, SCADA).
- Strong knowledge of industrial communication protocols.
- Maintain expert-level product knowledge and application skills.
