Job summary

NAFFCO Careers seeks a Senior Project Cost Accountant in Dubai to manage project financials across fire protection and related works. You will ensure accurate costing, timely invoicing, robust forecasting and contract-compliant accounting policies.

Partner with Project Managers, Procurement and Finance to drive cost transparency, improve margins and support commercial decisions throughout the project lifecycle. 10+ years' experience required.

Qualifications

• 10+ years' experience in project cost accounting
• Experience in construction/fit-out/mechanical-electrical contracting
• Strong understanding of BOQs, variation orders, claims, retention, and revenue recognition

Responsibilities

• Maintain accurate project cost ledgers and record labour, materials, subcontractor costs and overhead allocations.
• Prepare and review monthly project cost reports, cost-to-complete analyses, forecasts, variance explanations and margin reconciliations.
• Support monthly progress claims, interim valuations and final account reconciliation with contract compliance.
• Monitor subcontractor invoicing and retention; validate payment applications and coordinate approvals.
• Reconcile project WIP, revenue recognition and retention balances; ensure timely closing of projects.
• Analyse cost drivers and produce variance reports with root-cause analysis and corrective actions.
• Prepare accruals, provisions and month-end journals for projects with audit-ready documentation.
• Collaboration with Project Managers on BOQs, change orders, and variations; assess commercial impact.
• Support budgeting and tender costing with historical cost data and rates analysis.
• Maintain internal controls over project expenses, purchasing and payroll allocations.
