Senior Project Controls Engineer

Our Multi National Project & Cost Management Consultancy client has a new requirement for a well experienced consultant Project Controls Specialist to join their team in Abu Dhabi to work on hospitality fit out, refurbishment and build projects in the Emirates. Successful candidates will have a proven background as a Project Controls Specialist on hospitality fit out, refurbishment and build construction projects in the UAE and the wider GCC. Preference will be given to candidates who have worked in recognised consultancy companies previously. This role is available for immediate joining and is a direct hire, permanent placement with our client.

Key Responsibilities:

1. Develop and maintain projects master schedules and projects status for Client / Senior Project Management review.
2. Prepare/Update project control procedures and project planning packages for assigned projects.
3. Establish Work Breakdown Structure (WBS) & detailed schedules.
4. Develop and maintain Project Progress Measurement System in line with Client requirements.
5. Establish and monitor project progress based on key milestones and performance indicators (KPIs).
6. Analyze, evaluate and forecast project progress against an established baseline schedule. Assess the impact(s) of any changes and schedule slippages.
7. Provide timely schedule impact reviews and integrated project schedule updates.
8. Prepare graphs, diagrams, and other exhibits to illustrate project progress / cost status and forecast requirements for Client / Project team.
9. Ensure projects are executed within the contractual duration and allowed budgets and identify/issue potential variations to Client.
10. Coordinate with team members to ensure all project activities are completed in a timely manner, identify and report any potential delays.
11. Devise strategies to overcome schedule slippages through various methods such as using industry related technical knowledge, innovating shortcuts or alternative ways acceptable to Client/Company, improvising with available resources, scheduling overtime to meet the deadline, and the like.
12. Prepare recovery schedules and / or time impact analysis.
13. Integrate resources and costs into schedules for budgets, expenditure and resource analysis.
14. Prepare & track invoices as per the invoicing procedures.
15. Review/approve contractors / Sub-contractors / Vendors Project Control deliverables including project schedules, progress measurements system, reporting requirements etc.
16. Prepare and issue weekly/monthly reports as stipulated by client on agreed cut-off dates to assess the project progress, shortfalls, concerns etc.
17. Coordination and regulating various meetings such as project progress review meetings.
18. Assist the Head of Department in assessing the requirements for staff training and the technical performance of staff.
19. Assist the Head of Department in the management of the department workload.
20. Participate in the Company's mentoring program to assist and mentor younger, less experienced engineers.
21. Assist on Proposals, Tender bid documents.

Senior Project Controls Engineer Experience:

1. BSc in Engineering, Commercial Management or related.
2. Proficient in planning software e.g. P6, Microsoft Project, (Power BI - preferred); Expert in MS Office suite, with preferred experience in cost control software.
3. Minimum 8 years of relevant experience, preferred minimum 2 years with a PMC firm.
4. Must have UAE experience, preferably Abu Dhabi.
5. Capable of setting up & managing multiple small-scale projects or a large-scale project independently with oversight from management.
6. Must have Pre & Post Contract experience.
7. Able to independently develop & update a Master Project Programme with inputs from the Project Team.
8. Able to review and challenge Consultant & Contractor programmes.
9. Able to prepare cost-loaded programmes.
10. Should be able to chair planning workshops w/ Consultants, Client, and Contractors.
11. Should be able to convey planning information in a simplified way to the Client, including providing visuals for internal Client reporting & presentations.
12. Should have experience in delay & claim analysis & assessment.
13. Will track and control design deliverables, tender event schedule, contractor deliverables, statutory process, budgets, changes/VOs.
14. Must be willing to travel between Emirates to client offices / construction sites where required.
