Job summary

Wood is seeking experienced Senior Process Engineers for major Oil & Gas projects in the UAE. The role focuses on optimizing and managing complex gas processing and pipeline projects, with emphasis on safety, reliability and cost-effectiveness.

You will work within a global team delivering high-profile assignments. Ideal candidates will have a chemical engineering background, 10+ years in offshore/onshore oil & gas, and strong process simulation skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or equivalent from an accredited university with extensive experience in Offshore/Onshore Oil & Gas.
• Minimum 5 years in similar Gas Processing or Oil & Gas projects.
• Proficiency with process simulation software (HYSYS, OLGA, Pipesim, etc.).

Responsibilities

• Undertake process design work and supervise engineers on the project.
• Execute engineering activities within budget and schedule while maintaining design integrity.
• Review and approve process diagrams, P&IDs and safety studies.
• Mentor junior engineers and contribute to planning and reporting.

Job Objective

A Senior Process Engineer is responsible for optimizing, improving, and managing manufacturing or business processes to enhance efficiency, quality, safety, and cost-effectiveness while ensuring compliance with industry standards and organizational goals.

Responsibilities

• Undertake process design work of units as required, supervise and check works of assigned engineers on the project as appropriate
• Execute process engineering activities within the budget and schedule, as well as maintaining technical integrity of the design
• Ensure that detail design methods, standards and data used conform with Client's requirements and / or those issued
• Be responsible for the checking or approval of basis of design, process calculations, safety related calculations to develop the robust design
• Review and approve Process Flow Diagrams, P&IDs, PSFS, DPTDs, Equipment & Instrument specifications, Process Descriptions, cause, and Effect chart etc.
• Review and approve dynamic simulation study, transient study, surge study, Minimum Metal Design Temperature (MDMT) study, etc.
• Review and approve depressurization studies, flare load estimation and flare system design
• Ensure a high standard of safety is achieved and Environmental and Quality Assurance procedures are followed
• Review and approve safety related calculations and provide input to HAZOP, SIL and other safety reviews as required
• Identifying new methodology of work process required for higher productivity
• Contribute where necessary to review of supplier quotations and reviews of the project
• Ensure that requirements of Licensor's Secrecy Agreements are known and complied within the work performed
• Participate in technical meetings and handle discussions with client engineers
• Identification of issues that impede project progress and reporting to Project Managers, Engineering Manager / Discipline heads
• Be willing to mentor and engage in the training and development of junior engineers in the team
• Assist project team in the preparation of planning package, scheduling, weekly reporting etc.
• Assist as required in the preparation of pre - commissioning, commission procedures and operating Manuals
• Provided assistance in Manhours estimation and scheduling for proposals

• Bachelor’s degree in chemical engineering or equivalent from an accredited university with a minimum of ten (10+) years of relevant experience in the Offshore/Onshore Oil & Gas industry, including minimum (5) years (preferred) in GCC region.
• Must have at least five (5) years of experience in similar Gas Processing or Oil and Gas Separation or Oil and Gas Pipeline Engineering projects.
• Proficient in Process Simulation software’s such as HYSYS, Flare System Analyzer, PipeNet, Pipesim, OLGA etc. and should be a subject matter expert.
• Knowledge of engineering computer programs and general business software
• Experience of working in a multi - project / multi - disciplined environment and throughout all engineering and design phases of projects
• Previous experience of working in the Middle East would be an advantage
