Job description

Job Title: MECH Operations and Maintenance Technician

Responsibilities:
  1. Operations and Maintenance of all MECH related assets such as water tanks, pumps, plumbing works, water heaters, softeners, pool operations, and water treatment.
  2. Carry out plumbing repairs within internal and external areas of buildings.
  3. Execute technical rounds and report any technical issues.
  4. Operate the assets to achieve maximum performance and minimum breakdown.
  5. Ensure preventive maintenance tasks are performed as per job plan, standard operating procedures, and O&M manual recommendations.
  6. Ensure all assets and systems operate as per design or operational requirements.
  7. Provide proper reactive maintenance in case of asset or system breakdown.
  8. Master all aspects of the systems and assets under responsibility.
  9. Guide G2 & G3 level technicians and ensure proper procedures are followed.
  10. Ensure a safe environment for all staff and others.
Authority:
  1. Authorized to execute works within common areas as assigned by the team leader, Assistant Engineer, and Engineer against a work order.
  2. Authorized to lead or support G2 & G3 technicians.
  3. Authorized to request/collect material from stores for the execution of works against a work order.
  4. Authorized to enter plant rooms and areas not restricted by the client and within the scope of FARNEK.
  5. Not authorized to liaise with client staff.
Desired Candidate Profile:
  1. Thorough knowledge of MECH controls and components such as potable water pipework systems and associated valves.
  2. Familiarity with waste and drainage pipework systems, washroom sanitary fixtures and fittings, pressure reducing valve stations (PRVs), heat exchangers, calorifiers, storage type water heaters, high temperature hot water (HTHW) pipework systems, chilled water pumps (CWP) pipework systems, sewage pumps, submersible pumps, booster pumps, and transfer pumps.
  3. Ability to use and interpret tools and measurements.
  4. Autonomous troubleshooting and repair of MECH systems including electronic components and monitoring systems.
  5. Able to conduct performance checks, interpret results, and propose corrective actions to the Team Leader.
  6. Hands-on skills in problem diagnosis.
  7. Able to read and interpret technical drawings, schematics, and wiring diagrams.
  8. Good knowledge of applicable standards and codes.
  9. Experience in asset condition verification.
  10. Positive and pro-active attitude, bringing innovative ideas for improvement of operations (energy, risk, and safety).
  11. Ability to handle and face customers/end-users.
  12. Able to align pumps and motors.
  13. Qualification: Diploma or Degree Holder with a minimum of 3-5 years experience in MECH equipment Operations & Maintenance in GCC.
  14. Good communication skills (English).
  15. Interest in the technical environment and eagerness to learn daily.
