Senior Planning Engineer – Abu Dhabi, UAE
Parsons is looking for an experienced Senior Planning Engineer to oversee and manage the planning, scheduling, and progress monitoring of construction or engineering projects. The role ensures projects are completed on time, within budget, and to the required quality standards.
What You’ll Be Doing
- Review and convey Engineer’s consent to the Contractors’ Baseline schedule of works in line with Contract conditions and Parsons Recommended Practices.
- Validate the compatibility of project resources for timely completion.
- Develop Master Schedules integrating multiple packages, reflecting interdependencies and their impact on other schedules/projects.
- Identify potential risks/conflicts and document them in the Project Risk Register.
- Evaluate and verify planning and scheduling information from updated/progress schedules; identify delays, highlight critical events, and suggest mitigation measures and recovery plans.
- Perform What-If analyses to assess time impact of changes, variations, and events, and provide alternative actions before issuing instructions to contractors.
- Prepare regular progress reports and program analyses; present updates on milestones and project progress.
- Assess claims (Extension of Time, Disruption, etc.) using delay analysis methodologies (Time Impact Analysis, Window Analysis) and demonstrate concurrent delays where applicable.
- Coordinate with contractors and the Employer to resolve planning and scheduling issues.
- Coordinate with the Client to finalize contractor programs, reports, and claims.
- Attend meetings (kick-off, technical, service coordination, progress review) and prepare concise minutes of meetings.
- Prepare trackers/logs to monitor critical issues during Design and Construction stages.
- Agree on the progress measurement system (PMS) and key indicators with consultants/contractors for monitoring purposes.
- Communicate clearly to present to management and interface with a diverse group of professionals; respond to contractor notices with reasoned and analytic input.
- Maintain proper contemporaneous project records.
- Issue delay notices for contractor culpable delay and/or slow performance.
- Manage a team of one or more planning engineers, providing technical and leadership guidance.
What Required Skills You\'ll Bring
- Bachelor’s degree in civil engineering or construction management from a recognized institution.
- Minimum 10+ years of experience in planning and scheduling on infrastructure projects.
- Experience in infrastructure, utilities, and/or building projects with strong coordination requirements.
- Proficiency in scheduling software, particularly Primavera P6.
- Good written and oral communication skills.
- Thorough knowledge of industry best practices and regulations.
