Wood is currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Piping Support Engineer as part of our Engineering team within our Oil, Gas & New Energies business based in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

Due to the nature of the projects and client expectations, the position will be based full-time at our Engineering Center in Abu Dhabi, United Arab Emirates.

The Senior Piping Support Engineer will be responsible for leading piping support and piping stress engineering activities across various projects.

Responsibilities

  • Selecting pipe supports from standard drawings
  • Developing special supports considering height, load variation, and specific cases
  • Performing pipe support design calculations, including shoe and RF pad strength checks
  • Selecting secondary supports like cantilever, T-supports, etc.
  • Fixing clit supports from equipment design
  • Selecting spring supports (variable and constant types) from catalogues
  • Designing thrust in anchor flanges for GRE/FRP piping
  • Coordinating pipe support design with civil/structural teams
  • Preparing pipe support schedules and MTOs, preferably for ADNOC projects
  • Creating datasheets, MR, and TBE for special supports, springs, struts, etc.
  • Selecting adjustable pipe supports

Expected

  • Education: Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering, Materials Science, or related field; advanced degree preferred
  • Experience: Minimum 10 years in piping support and stress engineering, especially in large-scale projects in oil & gas, petrochemical, or power sectors
  • Technical Skills: Knowledge of piping materials, standards (ASME, ASTM, API), and material selection
  • Leadership: Proven ability to lead and mentor teams
  • Communication: Excellent verbal and written skills, capable of conveying technical info to non-technical stakeholders
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills for resolving complex issues
  • Software: Familiarity with engineering software and material management tools
