Job summary

McDermott International, Ltd in Dubai seeks a Principal Piping Designer to lead the piping design team, develop 3D models, and ensure coordination across disciplines for FEED and detailed design phases.

The role requires 10+ years in oil & gas, strong leadership, and expertise in E3D/SP3D and AutoCAD. Travel flexibility is expected; the incumbent will work under McDermott procedures and safety standards in a complex MOPEX environment.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in oil and gas with major contractor/consultant for Pre-FEED, FEED and Detailed Design.
• High School diploma with Mechanical Design or Drafting background.
• Detailed knowledge of 3D CAD including E3D or SP3D.
• Experience with E3D/S3D and AutoCAD/AutoLISP.
• Familiar with regulatory environment and industry standards.
• Proven project leadership.
• Understanding of process equipment maintenance and operation.
• Programming/macros and 3D modeling skills are a plus.
• Willingness to travel for assignments.
• Knowledge of QA systems and strong communication.

Responsibilities

• Perform design and engineering for process facilities within schedule while meeting safety and quality standards.
• Develop 3D models and ensure clash-free coordination with other disciplines.
• Approve drawings including plot plans per project specs and procedures.
• Lead design activities, set priorities, and forecast resources as needed.
• Lead the design team to complete tasks within schedule and budget.
• Act as project-based discipline POC in communications with Project Team, Client, and subcontractors.
• Coordinate 3D model reviews and close review comments.
