Job Purpose

Plans, supervises, coordinates, and controls the collection, analysis, and evaluation of petrophysical data necessary to predict the presence of hydrocarbons in wells for calculations of oil and gas reserves and for reservoir studies. This supports the formulation of appropriate field development plans.

Job Specific Accountabilities

  • Interpret and evaluate petrophysical data to determine the presence and type of hydrocarbons, fluid contacts, rock matrix lithology, and physical properties.
  • Review and consolidate reports; liaise with team members to integrate petrophysical data and study results.
  • Advise on well completion, casing depths, cementation quality, and tubular goods for surveys, including corrosion considerations.
  • Coordinate and participate in petrophysical contributions to exploration, appraisal, field development, and reservoir studies, including establishing parameters, methodology, and liaising with contractors.
  • Present petrophysical findings and recommendations to management and other stakeholders.
  • Define scope of work, methodology, parameters, timing, and costs for contractors involved in petrophysical work.
  • Review and update data quality control procedures to ensure consistent data quality.
  • Develop procedures, quality checks, and standards for digitizing petrophysical data.
  • Review data to develop and verify formation evaluation and reservoir models.
  • Manage petrophysical data handling and processing techniques on single or multiple wells.
  • Optimize rock physical properties for accurate formation evaluation and reservoir monitoring.

Minimum Qualifications

  • Bachelor's Degree in Petroleum Engineering or related discipline, with coursework in petrophysics, physics, or math.

At least 8 years of experience in geo-sciences, drilling, reservoir, and petroleum engineering.

  • Revenues / Budget : As per approved financial plan.
  • Professional Certifications : As applicable.
