Job summary

AIQ is hiring a Senior Specialist - Production Engineer (Petroleum SME) in Abu Dhabi. You will lead ESP/gas-lift workflows, build well-performance models, and collaborate with software engineers to deploy automated production solutions.

You will validate techniques through historical replay and pilot studies, ensuring safe, reliable, and efficient operations. The role emphasizes end-to-end optimization, field deployments, and data-driven decision making, with a focus on digital well surveillance

Qualifications

• Degree in Petroleum Engineering or related with substantial petroleum production experience.
• 12+ years of relevant experience including hands-on work with producing wells.
• Deep ESP and gas-lift expertise with diagnostic and optimisation skills.
• Experience delivering digital well surveillance or automation workflows.

Responsibilities

• Define surveillance and optimisation workflows for ESP wells including pump selection and operating range.
• Develop gas-lift and naturally flowing well workflows covering injection performance and valve behaviour.
• Build and validate well-performance models using nodal analysis and fluid properties.
• Define requirements for virtual flow metering, sensor validation and anomaly detection.
• Translate operating practices into decision logic for start-up, shutdown, and optimisation.
• Lead validation from historical replay to supervised closed-loop trials.
