Job summary

Analog is seeking a Principal Robotics Research Engineer to steer the technical direction of its robotics research, spanning perception, state estimation, motion planning, and control, with production-grade deployment on real hardware.

You will lead cross-disciplinary teams, publish at top conferences, drive patent activity, and translate fundamental advances into roadmap initiatives across sensing, estimation, planning, and safe execution.

Qualifications

• PhD in Robotics, Computer Science, EE, or Mechanical Engineering with research depth.
• At least 10 years of robotics research and engineering across perception, estimation, planning or control.
• Strong expertise in C++, Python, ROS/ROS2 with real-time safety-critical systems.
• Proven leadership managing high-performing engineering or research teams.
• Experience taking robotics solutions from prototype to field deployment.
• Excellent communication with technical, product, and executive stakeholders.
• Experience with PyTorch, TensorFlow, JAX, GPU compute, and simulation platforms such as Isaac Sim, Gazebo, MuJoCo.

Responsibilities

Research Leadership & Technical Direction

• Identify breakthrough opportunities across the robotics stack and emerging AI paradigms.
• Translate research insights into impactful and feasible product roadmap initiatives.
• Publish at leading conferences including ICRA, IROS, RSS, and CoRL, while driving patent innovation.

Perception & AI

• Architect multi-modal perception systems integrating vision, LiDAR, radar, depth, and acoustic sensing.
• Lead research in 3D scene understanding, tracking, segmentation, and open-vocabulary recognition.
• Develop foundation models and real-time AI architectures for robotic perception.

State Estimation & Sensor Fusion

• Design robust SLAM, visual-inertial odometry, and GPS/GNSS fusion systems.
• Advance probabilistic and learning-based sensor fusion for resilient localisation.
• Oversee calibration, synchronisation, validation, and benchmarking frameworks.

Motion Planning & Control

• Build planning frameworks for dynamic and unstructured environments.
• Lead MPC, reinforcement learning, imitation learning, and safety-critical control research.
• Drive trajectory optimisation and whole-body robotic motion generation.

System Integration & Deployment

• Own end-to-end integration of perception, planning, estimation, and control systems.
• Establish engineering standards for latency, determinism, and fault tolerance.
• Lead simulation, hardware-in-the-loop testing, and deployment optimisation for onboard compute systems.

Qualifications

• PhD in Robotics Computer Science Electrical or Mechanical Engineering or equivalent research experience
• 10 plus years of robotics research and engineering across perception estimation planning or control
• Strong expertise in C plus plus Python ROS and ROS2 with real time safety critical systems experience
• Proven leadership managing high performing engineering or research teams
• Experience taking robotics solutions from prototype to field deployment
• Strong communication skills across technical product and executive stakeholders
• Experience with PyTorch TensorFlow JAX GPU compute and simulation platforms including Isaac Sim Gazebo and MuJoCo
