Senior Operational Risk Manager

This role reports to the Head of Operational Risk Management and is responsible for developing a center of operational risk excellence. The manager will advise and coach business and operational risk stakeholders within their areas of responsibility.
Role: Senior Operational Risk Manager
Location: Abu Dhabi
Role Purpose:
- Lead the development and implementation of the Operational Risk Management Framework across the Group, ensuring alignment with enterprise risk strategy.
- Provide expert advice on operational risk matters related to business initiatives, projects, products, policies, and outsourcing engagements.
- Assist in identifying and mitigating operational risks, supporting risk assessments, incident analysis, and key risk indicator monitoring.
- Build strong relationships across the organization to promote a risk-aware culture.
- Develop and deliver training on operational risk standards, tools, and systems.
Key Responsibilities:
- Coordinate with all business functions for the rollout of ORM policies and procedures.
- Manage risk assessments, including workshops, root cause analyses, and risk evaluations.
- Review policies and procedures, ensuring effective risk mitigation strategies are in place.
- Generate reports on operational risk profiles and exposures for senior management.
- Analyze control environment data and recommend management actions.
- Ensure issues and actions are logged, tracked, and completed.
- Align ORM tools and practices across the Group, including risk assessments and incident management.
- Maintain ORM policies, standards, and regulatory compliance.
- Conduct training sessions and awareness programs on ORM standards.
- Coordinate audits and regulatory visits as needed.
- Support operational risk committees and risk champions within the business.
- Lead ORM projects related to systems, tools, and training.
Required Skills and Knowledge:
- Knowledge of international and local ORM practices and regulations.
- Strong communication, collaboration, and presentation skills.
- Analytical and problem-solving capabilities.
- Deep understanding of banking products, processes, and organizational structure.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office and technology risk.
- Bilingual proficiency in English and Arabic.
Experience and Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s Degree with at least 12 years of experience in financial services, including 7+ years in ORM.
- Postgraduate studies such as an MBA are preferred.
