Job summary

AMERICAN HOSPITAL in Abu Dhabi seeks an experienced Oncology Nurse to coordinate care for outpatient oncology patients. You will assess needs, educate patients and families, and collaborate with oncologists, surgeons, and radiation therapists to ensure seamless treatment and discharge planning.

The role involves direct patient care, documentation in EMR, and ongoing professional development to stay current with oncology care.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in nursing with a minimum of 3 years full-time study, or a degree in Nursing with minimum 2 years and RN registration from Canada, USA, UK, Ireland, South Africa, New Zealand, and Australia.
• UAE nationals: UAE or non-UAE university graduates are exempted from experience and clinical training requirements for the applied title.
• Non-UAE graduates from UAE universities must complete six months of clinical training post-graduation in an APS health facility.
• Must hold a valid License/Registration to practice in home country or country of last employment.
• Must hold a valid Basic Life Support (BLS) Certification or Advanced Cardiac Life Support (ACLS).
• Postgraduate degree in Nurse Management/Advanced Clinical Specialty preferred.

Responsibilities

• Provide direct patient care, including administering medications, monitoring vital signs, and assisting with treatments.
• Conduct comprehensive client assessments to collect functional, environmental, psycho-social, and health information for discharge planning.
• Coordinate care plans and treatment schedules with oncologists, surgeons, and radiation therapists.
• Educate patients and families about diagnosis, treatment options, side effects and provide emotional support.
• Maintain accurate medical records and EMR documentation and communicate with physicians, nursing staff, patients, families.
• Offer support and counselling to patients and families during treatment and participate in related meetings.
• Advocate for patients to ensure appropriate care and resources within the healthcare system.
• Participate in clinical research trials and stay updated on oncology care advancements.
• Contribute to quality improvement initiatives to enhance care delivery and patient outcomes.
• Oversee cancer- and treatment-related symptoms (pain, nausea, fatigue) and report findings.
• Engage in ongoing education to stay current with best practices in oncology nursing.
• Participate in departmental goals and committees; give patients and families clinic tours as needed.
