The Arab Monetary Fund aims to onboard a Senior Officer, Market Risk in the Risk Department, reporting to the Risk Director.
Job Purpose
The Senior Officer, Market Risk, is responsible for identifying, assessing, monitoring, and managing market risk exposures arising from the Arab Monetary Fund's (AMF) investment and treasury activities. The role involves ensuring that the AMF operates within its market risk appetite and complies with its risk management framework, while providing expert advice on market risk matters to support the organization’s strategic objectives.
Key Accountability Areas and Activities
The key activities include, but are not limited to, the following:

  1. Analyse and assess market risk exposure from AMF’s investment portfolios, trading activities, and other market-sensitive operations.
  2. Develop and implement market risk measurement tools, including Value-at-Risk (VaR), stress testing, and scenario analysis.
  3. Monitor market developments and provide insights on potential risks impacting AMF’s activities.
  4. Assist in developing and updating market risk policies, guidelines, and procedures in line with best practices and regulatory requirements.
  5. Ensure alignment of the market risk management framework with AMF’s strategic goals and overall risk appetite.
  6. Prepare regular market risk reports for senior management and relevant committees, including insights on exposure, trends, and compliance with limits.
  7. Provide recommendations for managing market risk effectively and ensuring compliance with established guidelines.
  8. Collaborate with the treasury and investment teams to design and implement hedging strategies to mitigate market risk exposure.
  9. Evaluate the impact of new products, investment opportunities, or changes in market conditions on AMF’s risk profile.
  10. Build and validate quantitative models for assessing market risks, including interest rate risk, foreign exchange risk, and equity risk.
  11. Conduct research on market trends and emerging risks to support informed decision-making.
  12. Work closely with internal teams to ensure market risk considerations are integrated into operational and strategic decisions.
  13. Provide expert advice on market risk-related matters and contribute to the development of financial products and investment strategies.
Qualifications and Requirements
  1. Minimum of 7 years of experience in market risk management, preferably in a financial institution or international organization
  2. Bachelor’s degree in Finance, Economics, Business Administration, or a related field
  3. Professional certification of CFA, FRM, PRM or equivalent is preferred
  4. Excellent communication and writing skills in Arabic and English. French, as a third language, is a solid advantage
