Job summary

Qualifications

• MBBS or equivalent medical qualification from a recognized institution.
• Recognized Specialist qualification in Neonatology or Pediatrics with appropriate neonatal training.
• Valid UAE healthcare authority license, eligibility letter, or eligibility to obtain the required specialist licensing.

Responsibilities

• Provide comprehensive medical care for premature, low-birth-weight, critically ill, and high-risk newborn infants.
• Assess newborns promptly after delivery and identify conditions requiring observation, investigation, stabilization, or intensive care.
• Diagnose and manage neonatal respiratory distress, infections, congenital abnormalities, metabolic disturbances, feeding problems, and other neonatal medical conditions.
• Deliver specialist care within the Neonatal Intensive Care Unit and newborn nursery according to established clinical protocols.
• Perform neonatal resuscitation and immediate stabilization for infants experiencing complications at birth or shortly after.
• Manage respiratory support and other intensive neonatal interventions within the specialist's approved clinical scope.
• Monitor vital signs, laboratory findings, treatment response, nutritional status, and clinical progression of hospitalized neonates.
• Develop individualized treatment and monitoring plans for premature and medically complex infants.
• Respond rapidly to neonatal emergencies and coordinate escalation of care when advanced intervention is required.
• Collaborate with obstetricians during high-risk deliveries and provide immediate specialist neonatal support when indicated.
• Explain neonatal diagnoses, treatment strategies, expected progress, and follow-up requirements to parents in Arabic or English as appropriate.
• Support families through difficult clinical situations with clear, compassionate, and culturally appropriate communication.
• Maintain complete medical records covering neonatal assessments, investigations, procedures, treatment decisions, and clinical outcomes.
