Job summary

Hungryroot is seeking an experienced MLOps/ML engineering leader to design, deploy, and maintain scalable backend services, data pipelines, and model lifecycle tooling. You will partner with data scientists and product engineers to deliver reliable ML-powered solutions.

Qualifications

• 5+ years in MLOps, ML engineering, or DevOps with production ML infrastructure.
• Strong Python and SQL; Bash for automation.
• Experience designing and operating backend services and APIs (e.g., FastAPI).
• Hands-on Databricks and Spark; MLflow or similar lifecycle tooling.
• CI/CD for ML/data systems; IaC with Terraform; AWS fundamentals.

Responsibilities

• Design, build, and operate scalable backend services, APIs, and data pipelines.
• Improve reliability, performance, and observability of production ML systems.
• Own model lifecycle from training to production: versioning, safe rollout, monitoring.
• Build interfaces for safe integration of new ML models and decisioning features.
• Strengthen engineering foundations: tests, type checks, CI/CD, IaC, docs.
• Profile data-heavy services to reduce time and memory footprint.
• Collaborate with data scientists and product engineers to translate needs into solutions.
