Job Purpose
Oversee and lead mechanical maintenance tasks using skills in online and outage work scope strategies on safety and non-safety related Systems, Structures, and Components such as pumps, valves, HVAC, chillers, heat exchangers, EDG, as prescribed to effectively maintain the plant and ensure high equipment reliability and performance. Participate in diagnosis and work planning phases to facilitate a strong mechanical maintenance program.
Key Activities, Responsibilities & Accountability
- Mechanical Maintenance
- Lead teams and perform mechanical maintenance activities to ensure all tasks are completed timely and with quality, achieving operational readiness while maintaining safety and reliability.
- Perform planned and corrective maintenance and surveillances on mechanical plant systems, structures, and components, including NSSS equipment (reactor, steam generators, fuel handling, HVAC, heat exchangers, pumps, EDG, DG, cranes, valves, chillers, supports) and BOP equipment (pumps, valves, radwaste, chillers, engines).
- Prepare and stage maintenance work activities, including procurement requests for spare parts and tools.
- Attend pre- and post-job briefings, oversee maintenance tasks, and ensure adherence to standards and procedures.
- Document equipment history reports post-maintenance.
- Conduct periodic tests to verify system performance or identify deficiencies.
- Update equipment and material data in the management system for accuracy.
- Follow safety procedures and guidelines to ensure plant safety and reliability.
- Perform troubleshooting on mechanical systems and components.
- Manage clearances for maintenance activities.
Staff Training and Qualification
- Implement management expectations for maintenance conduct, ensuring safety and reliability.
- Coach maintenance personnel to enhance training effectiveness.
- Evaluate training programs to ensure high quality and qualification standards.
Outage and Emergency Response Organization (ERO) Support
- Support outage and ERO activities to ensure safe and reliable operations, including shift and off-hours support.
Operational Planning
- Contribute to developing departmental systems and processes, including work instructions and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Ensure timely and accurate preparation of reports to meet standards.
The incumbent is also expected to adhere to health, safety, environmental, security, and business continuity protocols, and to demonstrate professionalism in all activities.
Qualifications
- High School diploma or equivalent.
- Diploma in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent.
- At least 5 years of relevant experience, including 3 years in mechanical work within a nuclear power plant environment.
