Responsibilities:

  • Lead and manage the design and review of mechanical systems, including HVAC, plumbing, firefighting, and drainage for shopping mall projects.
  • Coordinate with architectural, structural, and electrical teams to ensure seamless integration of MEP systems with the overall design.
  • Ensure all mechanical designs comply with relevant local codes, international standards (ASHRAE, NFPA, SMACNA, etc.), and authority requirements.
  • Review and approve mechanical shop drawings, material submittals, method statements, and ITPs.
  • Evaluate energy-efficient and sustainable mechanical solutions for large commercial environments such as malls, food courts, cinemas, and back-of-house areas.
  • Oversee site installation, testing & commissioning activities and ensure alignment with design and project specifications.
  • Address and resolve technical issues during the construction phase, particularly those related to large ducting systems, chilled water plants, smoke management, and tenant coordination.
  • Monitor project progress and ensure timely completion of mechanical works in line with project milestones.
  • Conduct technical evaluations of HVAC equipment, pumps, chillers, cooling towers, and control systems.
  • Prepare and present mechanical design reports, compliance documentation, and O&M manuals to clients and stakeholders.
  • Mentor junior mechanical engineers and ensure quality assurance of all mechanical deliverables.

Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Mechanical Engineering; a Master’s degree is a plus.
  • Minimum 10 years of experience, with at least 5 years in shopping mall or large-scale commercial projects.
  • Proven experience with high-capacity HVAC systems, chilled water networks, ventilation, and fire protection in complex commercial buildings.
  • Strong command of mechanical design software (e.g., HAP, Elite, AutoCAD MEP, Revit, Navisworks).
  • Familiarity with authority approvals and shopping mall operational requirements.
  • Excellent problem-solving, coordination, and communication skills.
  • Membership in ASHRAE, NFPA, or similar professional bodies.
  • LEED AP, Estidama PQP, or equivalent green building certification is preferred.
  • Licensed/Chartered Engineer status is a plus.
