Role Overview
The Senior Marine / Civil Engineer will play a key role in the design and delivery of marine and port infrastructure projects across the Middle East. The role covers all project lifecycle stages, particularly the design phase, with a focus on civil and marine engineering solutions for port facilities, marine structures, and waterfront developments.
Responsibilities
- Define engineering strategies and undertake feasibility studies for marine and port infrastructure, including quays, jetties, breakwaters, cargo terminals, shipyards, and waterfront utilities.
- Deliver high-quality civil and marine engineering designs on time through a hands-on, technically focused approach.
- Lead multidisciplinary coordination across marine, structural, and MEP disciplines to ensure integrated design solutions.
- Develop innovative technical solutions to complex challenges in marine and port engineering.
- Serve as a key point of contact for clients, presenting solutions to both technical and non-technical stakeholders.
- Undertake project reviews, design validation, and QA / QC checks in line with company standards.
- Embed sustainability and resilience principles into all civil and marine designs, in line with international best practices.
- Ensure Health & Safety is fully integrated into design and delivery, meeting marine operational safety standards.
- Manage resources effectively, including collaboration with international colleagues to optimise design processes.
Education / Certification / Membership
- Recognised tertiary qualification in Civil or Marine Engineering (Essential).
- Chartered Engineer or working towards (Advantageous).
Experience / Knowledge
- 8+ years’ post-qualification experience with proven exposure to marine and port infrastructure projects.
- Strong technical background in the design and delivery of marine structures (e.g., quay walls, jetties, breakwaters, berths, coastal protection works).
- Experience leading design delivery and coordinating with multidisciplinary teams.
- Familiarity with dredging, reclamation, ground improvement, and coastal hydraulics is advantageous.
- Experience of site works for marine projects is preferred.
- Detailed knowledge of international and regional design codes / standards
- Proficiency in engineering and design tools such as AutoCAD Civil 3D, Revit, Navisworks, and MS Office.
- Excellent communication skills with experience in client-facing roles.
